Long, short, or byte

Hi. I understand when the WeiDU tutorial says to subtract the current line from the next one to determine long, short, or byte. This is fine when the characters numbers.

What about when the have letters? If the current line is 1c and the next line is 1e, what do you do?

Also when would I write long 2 or more times for one action? Any examples of what this means?

If you don't want to use a calculator, I guess it would be easiest to convert the numbers to decimal first.

0x42 - 0x3a = (4*16+2) - (3*16+10) = 8 = 0x8

Or manually count how much you have to add to get there.

3b, 3c, 3d, 3e, 3f, 40, 41, 42 -> 8
