Effect [25] in BG2: descriptions in IESDP and DLTCEP differ

Recommended Posts

Effect State: Poison [25]

IESDP and DLTCEP give different descriptions. Which is correct?

Probably DLTCEP, but I don't have it handy right now.

I can tell you what's different, then

The effect has two parameters: parameter 1 (say, it's value is X) and parameter 2 (type)

According to IESDEP, for type=1: inflict 1 hp per second; for type=3: inflict 1 hp every X seconds

But by DLTCEP, for type=1: inflict X as percentage of total HP (?); for type=3: inflict X damage per round

For IWD, on the other hand, the descriptions of the effect are almost identical

Looks like 1 is the percentage (spread out over time or it would kill asap) and 3 is the IESDP version.

Seems logical, indeed

IIRC, the description is awkward because the poison effect is bugged (none of the persistent effects were working quite right in vanilla).

DLTCEP may be the way it was supposed to work, and IESDP the way it actually worked. But it's been a long time, so I could be mistaken.

W00t! IESDP wins! Take that Avenger! :p

This is unfortunately, the sad truth. But at least we have BGEE(2) now, where these things are fixed? Right?
