After trying out this component, and opting for the one of the 'cannot see invisible' option, I was somewhat dismayed to see that all the illithids had an effectively permanent non-combat invisibility of their own.

 

Playing primarily a thief, using Detect Illusion or True Sight (T/M or T/C) momentarily (like a flash) dispelled their invisibility, but was then immediately re-enabled the next round. This makes them effectively immune to backstabs.

 

I think for the 'cannot see invisible' options of this component, illithids should not be granted invisibility at will (or at least not for non-combat while they are standing around scheming).

 

Just a suggestion for those of us that would play with the 'easy' option. :)
