CTD accompanying wrong strref(s) with Tactics 25 improved Ilyich?

Bar

Recommended Posts

With improved ilyich, whenever after starting a fight some of the named, unique characters (duergar, Glabrezu) tries to say something?, they instead say the description of one of the heads of the flail of ages.

In a previous game when I installed in a bad order, some of them kept saying 'Kelsey'. Which made me re-install.

After that it's CTD.

Also, this happens:

-Are the duergar supposed to use voices too? Not misplaced, usually situationally appropriate (wounded etc) except I noticed a couple of 'trap set'.

-the Greater Otyugh summons ghasts sometimes, instead of crawlers. In the same install. IIRC. As if spawning insect plague on death wasn't enough.

What to do?

I assume I can't just un-install illyich, start a new game and hope for the best?

Should I completely drop Tactics v25?

With improved ilyich, whenever after starting a fight some of the named, unique characters (duergar, Glabrezu) tries to say something?, they instead say the description of one of the heads of the flail of ages.
Well, there's a few things, the problem you have is with strings references... meaning that the line the character uses is not the correct one... one of the causes is that you sorta need to start a new(not load a) game, or the file in your savegame that tells what to say to some people is always wrong... so make sure you start a new game after you install or reinstall a mod.

There is other causes, one being incompatibility made by the mod just blindly copying a file over already modified files... and the Tactics mod is horrible at this...

Should I completely drop Tactics v25?
Well, if you are unwilling to use the BWP modified install code(included in the BWFixpack), then yes. If you wish to use it and the other BWP tools, you can have the Tactics too.

Thanks. The log above is newer, I originally had some tactics parts installed (Illyich, Sahuagin and all the new parts not in SCS)

-What I did was this - briefly played BG2 to make baldur.ini

-installed the mods

-started a new game and mucked in SKeeper to re-create characters from my game BGT, where I forgot to install various BG2 mods and so on.

-started playing

So I never loaded a game from an install with different mods..

I made one install with BWP, but didn't like it. Stupid mod choices, and it stuttered or ran slowly on a 3.2 ghz cpu..?

Going over the whole bat file with a fine comb to get what I want seems.. more trouble than just re-doing the install manually without bwp.

Remember that the BWI.bat file is programmed to just install the mods in the game folder, yeah, it can be a lot of trouble... but the BWFixpack can actually be installed without the BWI.bat too, just as long as you already make the setup(aka, extract all the mods you intent to install to the game folder, but do not install any of them).
