MissBehave
So just to sate my own curiosity here.. how descriptive does Aklon get? I don't think its been talked about. With Aran and HD being two of my favorite guys, I'm just wondering where Aklon will fit in. Yeah.. I'm that girl. Link to comment
BigRob
Thanks for the question MissBehave, and for the support in the Progress Report thread. It was discussed long ago and it depends a bit on where your line for smut starts. But since you're asking in a wanting way, probably not so much. So far, the way I've written the more flirts/encounters involving things you (probably) wouldn't do in the streets start off very descriptive and as things progress become a bit more abstract and suggestive, before closing the curtains and letting imagination take off for the rest. Generally speaking, overt descriptions stop at early foreplay, though the line wobbles a little here and there. I should probably look more heavily into Aran and Haer'Dalis' stuff to know where to make the comparison, but I also didn't want to plagiarise from them, another reason I've not gone through the basic NPCs with the flirt pack yet (not to mention I'd like to play them at some point as well). If there were interest I suppose I could write more detailed stuff and simply make it a special option in the install, as I was planning on doing this for some content already, like the descriptive elements in the romance and his force-talk options. MissBehave
Woo! I second that idea. Gavin even lets you turn it on/off in his PID. Something about sensibilities.. which I don't have. I know some modders simply aren't comfortable writing in that detail, and that's okay. But if you are, I'd say that's bonus! Now Aran and Bjornin (just off the top of my head) might be on one end of the spectrum, but it would be nice to at least see something along the lines of Renal, Cernd, Sarevok (all from RE)... If its optional on install or can be turned off in the PID, you'd probably make everybody happy. Link to comment
BigRob
I'm not uncomfortable to write in detail, though I've not really done so before and I can't vouch for quality there (mind you, I have that problem for the whole mod, so fair enough). I also want to make sure people would be comfortable to read/play Aklon as well, but the ability to turn such things on or off at install or in dialogue in game does give me some freedom there. I'll have to take a peek in detail at Aran and the RE stuff to know where I stand and go from there. Of course, I'll be trying to get main writing done for the moment to get most of Aklon in playable order, but I do want to come back later and tidy up some of the main romance, so that seems like a good time to come back and throw in some more spice. MissBehave
That sounds good to me. Far be it for me to suggest anything that will hold up his release And I think the many people waiting to get their mitts on him is a testament that we all have faith in your writing. Link to comment
eriberri
A bit late to this conversation, but I just have to add my vote to this idea! I think having the choice to install smutty content or not, could only make this mod better. In my own experience playing mods like Haer'dalis and Aran (and, among others, Cernd in RE - really loved his bit.. shame there's no Cernd romance mod in the same vein), I find that having those intimate details makes it far more engaging (and sexy) then the customary black screen or vague references; a lot more enjoyable for the fun things it does to your imagination and a more memorable experience all around. ;D Buuuut.. nobody knows Aklon or what your mod needs better then you do, and though I'm really glad that you seem to be open to the idea (or did when you posted in 2014), whatever choice you do make in regards to smut, it'll surely be the right one. Oh yeah.. offhandedly I did wonder something: considering that Aklon is male and most people playing him for the romance aspect (and possible smut) will likely be female, how do you actually feel about writing explicit detail aimed towards a female audience? I mean, female writers are usually fine with it because they know what other women like so it's not that hard to imagine, but I am curious to hear how you'd potentially approach it as a male writer (especially as the style of smut often differs depending on the gender writing it). Would you feel confident to try your hand at it without additional help, or would you be more inclined to consult a female writer - at some point - who has had experience with writing for BG romances for her opinion on it? Anyway, purely curious! If you'd rather not answer my pondering, that's fine. Link to comment

MissBehave
Playing through with Haer'dalis again right now and figured I should encourage this line of content again. Link to comment
Tessia
The more I read about this more, the more I want to play it! Can't wait :D Link to comment
BigRob
I'm somehow amazed that I missed replying to this one for so very long, I'm sorry about that. This is still something I will be exploring once I have core writing completed, but in terms of potential feeling of the smuttier aspects of writing, I will obviously be writing from a male perspective, and while this might lend some reality to the things Aklon himself might do, I realise this is not necessarily the kind of thing female players might especially enjoy and some of the PC's choices might not reflect things players would like (of course, that's a problem with choice for all players in RPGs). I'll certainly try to slant the writing to at least generically suit a female audience (individual mileage may vary) and I would definitely seek some feedback regarding style, quality and depth. Thinking about it, the smutty stuff will likely feature as a special option during installation and the default will stick with the current stuff, which runs mostly to early foreplay and will do the fade-to-black thing.
