separate stacks in bags?

This question probably belongs to the general discussion, but for some reason it won't let me post there.

 

I noticed that sometimes I get 2 different stacks of the same item in a bag (ammo bag, gem bag). When put into inventory, they get combined.

I don't remember it happening before. Is it a result of some mod? Tobex?

This also happens in an unmodded game. I haven't found a good explanation for this behavior yet. Maybe it has something to do with the item flags (identified, stolen, etc.).
