Let's say I advertised this encounter to people.

I think you actually did. I'm installing this asap :D .

BGII starts with the PC being tortured, and there is no exit option!

Sorry, but this is far more than black and white, as you would like to see it.

Don't forget what happens to Khalid in Irenicus dungeon (that's quite explicit piece of writing). BG2 is quite a dark game, all things considered.

well be expecting some silly, light-hearted fun and instead be greeted with that.

Ehh....you know, you can install this as "teen", "mature", etc. So you picked the option which wasn't to your liking. Back to Readme I guess.

Well, if you have a dialogue option to "pass out on this one" and you stick to "being raped" that kind of makes the whole "rape" point you're trying to make rather moot.

"You there! I'm gonna rape you! But only if you say yes! Otherwise, ummm.... carry on, soldier."

Do you not understand the difference between saying "Would you like to have sex with me, yes or no?" and threatening someone with what will happen if they don't have sex with you, then backing down when they don't acquiesce?

There is no difference, no? Filthy, disgusting rape porn, all of it.

Glam, I am married (and have a kid) for 3 years now. 'nuff said. :p

Jokes aside, while you may find the dialogue offensive, same could be said for a number of non-modded BG2 dialogue lines (just start BG2 and read through Imoen and Jaheira's discussion about Khalid's body; which is far more explicit -and I don't mean in sexual sense - than anything in RE).

It's a mod. With a very good readme (back to Readme..) to boot. While "Romantic encounters" may be misleading name for it, same could be said for a huge number of mods (Improved Anvil, TBQuestpack etc.) So, if you don't like the content/find it abusive/whatever you can always remove it from your game. You made your point, I don't think any of the posts here will be deleted so it will stand as a "warning" for whoever wants to play through RE - I guess even people who don't read Readmes will stumble upon this topic.

From how I see it, it's one hell of an advertisment. :)

That's nice. Is it intended to be erotic?

Really. So where do you draw the line? Does a line even exist in your mind?

You know Chloe? Not the BG2 NPC, but that cheery little child in Beregost? Can I write a mod where Charname kidnaps and forcibly sodomises her? And have it be, you know, kinda sexy, instead of the reprehensible act that it is? I'd warn the players about it in the readme (halfway through), and I'd code it so they can stop at any time. Hell, they don't have to download it at all. That makes it okay, right? That'd get the G3 stamp of approval?

Even then, the warning isn't particularly good. It specifically says "There's nothing too heavy-handed." Threatening someone with gangrape is pretty damn heavy. Even someone who wants to play that component may well be expecting some silly, light-hearted fun and instead be greeted with that.

We agree to that. The next version will address this differently.

EDIT: Oh, I missed a whole page of discussion by posting too soon.
