Ulf Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Hello all I played BG & BG2 from the beginning until app. 2003. Actually the best RP games I ever have tried. So I decided to give it a shot again, but I was surprised with the new EE stuff. Problem is I can't really see wether it is an advantage to go with the EE or to stay with my old discs ol' school BG/BG2? Do I get new quests (beside those with the new NPCs)? New fetch quests or bring X to Y quests? Does all those new, nice mods I see around run on EE or is it only the updated mods which runs on the EE? Hope you'll help a rather confused old player-turned-newbe. Cheers Ulf Halgrim
Kulyok Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Welcome to G3! You'll be all right with old school, I think - mods are still being made for the classic games first and foremost, and new mods like Romantic Encounters for BG1 are working for EasyTutu/BGT and even classic BG. With EE, you're getting a few new areas for NPC quests, but new NPCs have only a few dialogues, with an exception for Neera - she's got an expansion mod. Dunno, I'd wait until they're all expanded.
Ulf Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 Ok thanks for the answer. I'll stick to my old BG/BG2 discs. And now for finding out what mods to use Uhh It doesn't cause troubles using a EE modified mod on a normal BG game? Cheers Ulf Halgrim
Kulyok Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 No, you're going to be okay - it works and keeps working on BG2 from the beginning.
jastey Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Ulf: To be precise, if a mod is developped for EE only, it won't work on the classic games, neither will a mod for only the classic BG work on EE. But what Kulyok meant is, that most mods are coded platform independent, but this is stated in the mods' readmes.
Ulf Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 Thank you jastey, I'll indeed look into the readme's before installing a mod. BTW I saw the nice minimods you did for BG1, fine work I have to say, now I'll have to try them out Cheers everyone and thanks for your help. Ulf Halgrim
jastey Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Thank you for the kind words! I am rather fond of my mods myself, so I won't argue against installing them. - Let us know if you encounter any problems.
