Jarno Mikkola Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 K, so I voted what I mostly look out for... I will install everything eventually if I could like it(like a new joinable npc), but the votes are what I am really looking for. And this is currently, cause I will move to using the Enhanced Edition eventually, but for now the megamod can only be really used with BGT, and not the EET.
Thimblerig Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Thanks, Jarno - yup, general preferences are what I'm interested in.
Greenhorn Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I would have to say Trilogy, for sheer amount of mods available and support behind it. I also enjoyed Tutu , in fact that is my only playthrough of BG 1 which I actually finished and imported my Moon Knight pally to sequel. See, I'm one of those weirdo hardcore players which obey some peculiar rules ( no reloading no matter what, if you bite the dust, that it, game over). But the reason I prefer Trilogy is because Tutu is handicapped for majority of those massive big adventure mods which gave you a true sense of epic. Although the final cutscene of Dynaheir's romance is truly worth seeing ( favorite modded romance of all times, second only to original Jaheira's). Despite my tremendous efforts to play and finish vanilla BG:TOS I finally gave it up, the number of bugs, incompatibilities and crushes is just too much. Now I decided to give BG:EE a chance but from what I see I'm afraid that won't be spectacular experience. Three new NPC aren't that great ( maybe that freak Dorn have some potential ), game lagging because of single area spell ( stinking cloud ), inferior art and movies, horrendous player scripts, unattractive GUI and fonts, endless tinkering about every single trifle which comes for granted in other games and shortage of mods for it didn't left that favorable impression on me. At least I hope that all that ocean of bugs and crushes is finally squished in 1.3 v...
Thimblerig Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 "Extended edition"? You mean "Enhanced"? Oops. Thanks, Kreso.
Shaitan Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I love BG1. Simple as that. It's balsam to my soul. Don't want to buy EE to my laptop (tried it on my iPad, and wasn't impressed), as mods still are being developed to EasyTutu (which I use). In my current game I try Xvart expansion found at SHS, and eagerly following Balduran's Seatower mod same place made by Yovaneth and Miloch. I usually take my char from BG1 into BG2.
InKal Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I'm not suprised by the results so far. Once you start playing EE after 1.3 ...... for me at least there's no coming back. The resolution and the overall quality of the graphics is actually enhanced. seriously. You have like widescreen mod but it's nothing in comparison, imo. yeah, Neera is a schoolgirl, Dorn is grimdark laughable cheesy poison abuser and Rasaad is useless monk (let him drink invis. potion and hide from enemies or he's dead in 5 seconds) voiced in annoying manner by Meer imo. so what? you can completely ignore them. Don't get me wrong it's great that the oldschoold is still alive and strong. ;D
Jarno Mikkola Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 ...r and Rasaad is useless monk (let him drink invis. potion and hide from enemies or he's dead in 5 seconds) That's the wrong use of him, he s not a tank, but a damage dealer ... meaning that you need to watch out that the ogre berserker doesn't attack him, but the dwarf fighter you have for just that purpose. Or you just want to point out this and so I'll give you that. And yes, I would like to play the EET with all the BGT's mods, but it's not possible yet, so I'll keep my vote on the BGT for now. But I already said that.
kreso Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 EE 12,BGT 8, vanilla BG1 0.... I feel so old now. I think that percentage-wise this about wraps up the situation with BG players right now. Around 60% play EEs, 40% or so are ghouls who refuse to accept the "enhanced future" and stick to BGT like moths to flame (myself included), and very few play BG1. Needles to say, I also voted BGT.
Thimblerig Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 I figured I'd wait 'til the last of the EE bugs got fixed and there was a reasonable amount of compatible mods available. Which might be now, come to think of it. Hmmm.

Same here I'm happy with my vanilla based BWP and some rare shots at original BG1, and won't ever be touching this EE mockery unless forced by a really overwhelming number of mods that works only on EE. I miss TuTu somewhat, but novadays it just makes no sense compared to the awesomeness of one vast world provided by Worldmap and BWP. As for what mods I like, I didn't found "mods adding new areas", which I consider pinnacle of BG modding, so I voted for "other" among my choices. Other than this, everything is good unless it's some freaky rebalansing, tweaking, rule changing or somesuch. In my current game I try Xvart expansion found at SHS, and eagerly following Balduran's Seatower mod same place made by Yovaneth and Miloch.Hey Shaitan, I'm curious what xvart expansion are you referring to, because I want one too, but all I know is a subcomponent of Big Picture, which isn't quite an expansion size-wise As for Seatower, isn't it abandoned for at least 3 years, or did I missed some new development?
K4thos Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 EE games. Mods with vanilla friendly content. Hate joinable NPC mods and those silly ones with overpowered items and "challenges" (yay! Let's put a level 10 group against level 1 party - that kind of stuff).

Hi Xvart Caverns it's called. I don't know of BP, since I use EasyTutu. It's a add-on or a mod if you prefer that It's still in beta. The seatower is being worked on still. I tested it a year ago or so, but much work is being done AFAIK. Cheers
