Juancho Talarga Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Greetings everyone! I just tried to install the Widescreen Mod in my Windows XP system for use with Baldur's Gate 1 + Tales of the Sword Coast (version 1.3.5508). However, installation failed and, as instructed, I'm posting the SETUP-WIDESCREEN.DEBUG error log here and asking for assistance: WeiDU v 23700 Log C:\JUEGOS\BG1\setup-widescreen.exe[./Chitin.key] loaded, 238496 bytes[./Chitin.key] 159 BIFFs, 16694 resources[./Keymap.ini] loaded, 4258 bytes[./Baldur.ini] loaded, 1113 bytesPossible HD/CD Path: [c:\JUEGOS\BG1\]Possible HD/CD Path: [E:\CD1\]Possible HD/CD Path: [E:\CD2\]Possible HD/CD Path: [E:\CD3\]Possible HD/CD Path: [E:\CD4\]Possible HD/CD Path: [E:\CD5\]Possible HD/CD Path: [E:\CD6\][./dialog.tlk] loaded, 3407220 bytes[./dialog.tlk] 24124 string entriesChoose your language: 0 [English] 1 [Francais (Isaya & Lothringen)] 2 [spanish (ghildrean & Ancalagon el Negro)] 3 [Russian by Prowler & Njkzy (arcanecoast.ru)] 4 [italiano] 5 [Portoguese by Felipe]Using Language [English][English] has 1 top-level TRA files[widescreen/tra/english/setup.tra] has 30 translation stringsWould you like to display the readme? Thanks for reading!
Mike1072 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Should I apply patches 1.3.5512 and/or 5521? Yes, you should apply patch 5512. You need to install the latest patch (which would be Trials of the Luremaster if you're on Heart of Winter) and make sure you aren't installing the mod twice (which includes attempting to install it on EasyTutu or a cloned install when it is already installed on your main install). Jarno Mikkola Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Or you can apply the 5521 patch, or have that natively in game already, but then you should also extract the international 5521's fix/(it's name is "Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast DirectX 8 Bug Patch", the Intl -version), that's available here. I will also suggest that you install the Widescreen mod in one of these 4 resolution options, so you can install the BG1GUI mod on top of that, so you will have finally a centered GUI and proper mouse scrolling in game. The resolution options are in the link, it's these: c/ 1024x600 - for netbook screensd/ 1024x768 - for standard monitors 4:3 (CRT)e/ 1280x768 - for panoramic monitors LCD 16:9f/ 1280x800 - for panoramic monitors LCD 16:10
Juancho Talarga Posted March 29, 2016 Author Posted March 29, 2016 Thank you both for the advice and the useful links. I patched my game to version 1.3.5512 and now the Widescreen Mod is working. One strange thing I noticed, though, was that some sprites that were supposed to be transparent began showing large black squares behind them. Could this possibly be a bug in the Mod?

One strange thing I noticed, though, was that some sprites that were supposed to be transparent began showing large black squares behind them. Could this possibly be a bug in the Mod? No, it's not the mod, it will happen even without it in the original game, so to get rid of it, you need to edit the game settings via the baldur.ini file that's in your game folder by hand with Notepad. It has to do with the color settings, if you set it to 32 bit one, the lower side of the partially visible squares have wrong visibility zone. Example parsed from two spots: Truthfully, I forgot how to remove that, except set the colors to 16. Either in game or in the .ini file.
