EET v13.4 released

Recommended Posts

but I did notice one last thing - my baldur.ini

You need to use the late install(v2.3.6....) of BG2EE gamer to construct a EET game... and it doesn't any longer utilize the baldur.ini file, but the baldur.lua ... that's saved into your computers configuration folder... in Windows 10 for example, it can be found for example in: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition\ ... And yes, that file can contain all the things it wants, as the backstab thing is/was an option in the game, that you can switch between the settings it has.

Mine has this at the settings:

SetPrivateProfileString('Game Options','3E Thief Sneak Attack','0')

An idiot's question to that - where did you get baldur.ini from? I thought you were in EET?

Computers today store stuff that programmers fail to remove when they use generalized uninstall programs. Aka the file is probably there from an old install that has no effect in the current game even if it's in there. Of course after uninstall, one should remove the game folder if it contains stuff in it... and every other folder the computer has if it contains files related to what ever they don't have any more. I for example had files from 200 old games in my last computer I didn't find to bother to remove, that I had use the Windows Install Shield to uninstall. Which should tell you enough about the general lack of interest of fixing the situation from game makers. Edited by Jarno Mikkola

Took me a bit of time to find it: http://gibberlings3.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=27884&page=8&do=findComment&comment=245327

Might not be an issue still - haven't tested recently.

I searched for a bit and that's the only bug related to Unique Containers in Tweaks Anthology I could find. Without a .debug file, line number/file for the error, etc. I can't even try to come up with a workaround/fix for the issue (assuming it hasn't already been fixed by the 'unofficial' Beta 5.

Hi again. I swear I have the worst luck with broken campaign transitions in EET. Just like at the end of SoD, I'm having a bug transitioning to ToB.

Basically, right after winning the first fight and being transported to the pocket plane, I get the conversation with the solar, then Sarevok gives the line "I have been waiting for you!" and the conversation ends. I googled a bit and some people were having similar issues even with the GoG version, something to do with SoA and ToB dialogs working differently. If I dismiss everyone from my party, I can go on with the conversation. I'm just worried that my game could be break again if I use this workaround. Does anyone have an idea what's happening?

In case anyone wants to take a look, my ToB savegame is here.

Do you have a mod installed that relates to Imoen?

After that Sarevok line, Imoen would make a statement, then Minsc, then normal Sarevok dialogue continues. Imoen's interjection may relate to the wrong diaogue file in your case (I played with your save and it works perfectly).

You may want to try to continue with any of those two saves attached that I tested successfully.

I decided to try installing a second instance of EET with BWS, with a different mod configuration, to compare to the first one.

Much was the same as my first (all the big mods, lots of tweaks and quest mods). The main difference is that this new instance does not include the Sandrah Saga. I adjusted a couple minor tweaks as well.

Early in the BWS install, I ran into this error:

WARNING: file "setup-NTotSCv171.tp2" does not exist (this is the file targeted for patching in "SETUP-NTOTSCV171.TP2.PATCH" in "Big World Fixpack/NTotSCv171"). This might mean you did not extract all of the files of the mod, or it might mean that the patches for this mod were made for a different version of the mod than the version that you are using (you would see this message if the version you are using moved or renamed the tp2 file).

It looks like this is still in the Fixpack phase of the install, before everything is fully installed. What's more, NTOTSC installed just fine in my first instanced EET install. Indeed, that install completed flawlessly.

I checked and that .tp2 file exists within the NTOTSCv171 folder. Did something change, that BWS isn't recognizing the file anymore? Should I just copy over the file from my first instance of EET?

Thanks for any advice :)

Nothing was changed in NTOTSC recently. Also, the interim version should run without fixpack (like it did in your previous install).

Must be something in BWS/fixpack. (Certainly abg1 will read this and correct it pretty soon),

I'm running into some issues trying to do a Sandrah Mega Mod install. EET will fail with an "out of memory" error.

Smaller none mega-mod EET installs work just fine though.

I know this is a known problem but has anyone found a workaround yet or was able to pin-point the exact cause of this issue?

No, which is why all the information you can give us would be good. Try for example run the BWS'es install with the same computer day in and day out and find which mod you can install and at what point it will definitely stop working. It could easily be a memory leak or other processes interfering the transactions. And in case you have not done everything proposed in the instructions for using the BWS, do them. It's under the "Prerequisites:" -header.

And if you find other suggestions, submit(aka make as post about them in the forum) them to ALIEN so he can add them to the list.

Another more common constancy is to try and get people to listen to you in a single forum... so they DO NOT NEED TO READ THE SAME POST ABOUT THE SAME STUFF IN MULTIPLE forums.

That is, until you can invariably deduce that you are not getting a reply. Aka give it a day or two, and also if you have not already gotten a reply, you might as well link the other post in the new ones.

Actually Sandrah cannot be the cause here as the mod installs AFTER EET. Anyway, the issue could not be appointed to any specific mod at all (whatever the file is when it fails, it is a random issue and has nothing to do with the contents of that file but just the fact that the indicated file was due for processing when the memory is exceeded).

PS - this is just a summary of the multiple reports I saw since I never encountered that error so far (knock on wood).

PPS - The error seems to be more likely to happen when you use BWS + EET, (so it may be some additional memory that is required when you have both programs open? I saw no reports on manual EET installs.)

I have no idea what you're even talking about. I haven't posted about this issue in any other forum. Also, maybe go outside for a little while.. you seem agitated.

@Roxxanne I didn't want to imply Sandrah was the cause for this issue I merely mentioned it since your mod requires basically the whole package of big mods to be installed.

Back to facts - the big mods are mostly installed after EET, only some few are installed prior. BG1NPCs and Drizzt Saga - maybe Dark Horizon's and Askavar.

Probably none of those should be excluded in the long term if EET wants to be successful? And...it may just be a large number of smaller mods having a similar effect like one big mod?

Another indication may be found in the fact that EET_end which seals with a far bigger number of mods does not produce a similat issue.

Not being an egineer myself, all I can contribute is a summary of indicators from the reports we have so far. And the more people report (and repeat) the commonality in their installs may lead to the source of the problem.
