Huh, now I'm actually curious why the official recommendation is the other way around. As I recall it, I've always put 1pp first because it used to be that attempting to install 1pp after installing all of Infinity Animations's components would cause unsolvable critical install errors when you would then get to 1pp. I don't know if that still happens, maybe not with the new version? I haven't tested it enough to know for sure. Additionally, for as long as I've been doing it this way (the past ten years or so!), I cannot ever remember having inconsistencies or other kinds of problems...but perhaps there's a specific issue with one of the IA components I'm not using? I use most, but not all of them. Perhaps...wait a second, egads! I forgot something else that should be noted in the install order as well - the "Smart Avatar & Armour Switching" component of 1pp should not be installed until extremely late into the install order, pretty much right after all of the secondary Infinity Animations are installed! I think a new version of IA is in the works and perhaps it will require changes in the future recommended installation order, just like it happened with the 2020 version of 1PP. This version I have on my local drive is a bit of a mystery because I have no recollection about how I got it and it does not come with new documentation (it still uses the b5 version of it). Gwendolyne is currently active developing a new IA version and that one explicitly mentions needing to be installed before 1PP. In my own notes this version I have was to be installed after 1PP just like you were recommending. But those notes were from before 1PP 4.2.0 and I am not sure they are still valid. I did download the master from github but the WIP there is missing both the .exe and a .tp2 making me think it is not supposed to be even tested by the daring. It's good that by talking about all this you got to amend your install order recommendation though. Cheers! Quote Link to comment

Bartimaeus Posted April 21, 2021 Author Share Posted April 21, 2021 (edited) It's fairly simple: the secondary components can affect mod-added creatures - therefore, those components should be installed after all mod-added/edited creatures (e.g. atweaks, polytweak, etc. near the end) to ensure that the creatures are affected. I found this very recent statement made by Gwendolyne: "If you want to benefit from all 1PP paperdoll content, you must install IA BG1 Characters components before 1pp" The BigWorldProject's latest version does not seem to help us much when it comes to IRR because there the installation order recommendations apply to IR v4b10 from 2017 which still includes old 1PP material. I guess some confusion and a certain degree of incompatibility is somewhat unavoidable until the new version of IA is out. Bartimaeus Posted April 22, 2021 Author Share Posted April 22, 2021 (edited) @Salk So I ignored that, and installed (after ToBEx and BG2 Fixpack) 1pp -> Infinity Animations - that's it, just to test this. I installed the new version of 1pp with BG1-style shields, and everything else set to the default. Then I installed the current (i.e. not the unreleased) version of IA and enabled the BG1 animations for all characters & PCs that patched my save game. I guess I'd have to know what exactly doesn't work, because all of the BG1-style shields seem to work just fine, thieves still have their improved 1pp paperdolls, female dwarves were correct...and an assortment of other characters all seemed like they were still using the 1pp paperdolls as well. Bastard swords, the Flail of Ages, staves...all seemed correct to me. So I guess I'm a little confused as to what the issue is and would need more information on what is prompting that recommendation. Edited April 22, 2021 by Bartimaeus Quote Link to comment

I guess the issue may only present itself when the new version of IA (v6) is going to be released, just like things had to be adjusted when the latest version of 1PP was released. Thanks for checking it out. UPDATE: Just to wrap this up, when I tried to install 1PP after my version of AI I get an error message installing the main component. Funny thing is that the installer detects the presence of IA but it breaks things although it seems to be nothing but a typo at line 48 of 101_ia.tph (is iwd -> GAME_IS iwd). After correcting that typo everything installs fine except Thieves Galore that chokes when trying to patch bgmain.exe. Edited April 23, 2021 by Salk Quote Link to comment

Whereas, if aTweaks Expanded Services is not installed it equates to 0, which means 0x1000 or 0gp for Mass Cure, because without the aTweaks component Mass Cure won't be available so... don't change it. One small amenity I did make for that was that I added a +2 Intelligence bonus for Potion of Perception. It's not as good as the old Potion of Genius, but... If you're set on restoring that, you can just remove them in item_rev\components\main\items.2da - search for "potion_of_vocalize" and "potion_of_restoration" and just remove those entire lines. (e): Although with how many times I've been requested to restore Potion of Genius, maybe I should think of another way of adding a temporary intelligence buff... The current version should now work.
