Last call for SCS v32 fixes

Was able to fix Abazigal by setting his APR from 0->3 and replacing references to a non-existent dw#dt2b spell with the regular dw#dt2 (which causes his spell sequencer to actually be 4x remove magic + 2x greater malison, since the script also force-casts the same spells as the sequencer, but it hardly matters). The knock back upon changing into dragon form occurred once but I usually had to Ctrl-J.

There was a weird bug which happened more than once and I could try to reproduce if needed, where Abazigal's HP seem to go back up to full with no explanation. When I ctrl-Q'd him, I saw he had 500/500 HP instead of X/1500. I think this is before I messed with his script, but maybe I misremembered and I screwed it up somehow. I guess if someone else runs into this it'll prove whether it's a bug.

I noticed what seems like a bug: Khelben's Warding Whip ignores Spell Trap. It doesn't remove the Spell Trap, but the warding whip effect goes off every round and removes defenses such as SI:A.

In the first part of the final battle, the two Fallen Solars that appear each have an escort of 2 Mariliths, 1 Alu-Fiend, and 1 Succubus. My understanding is that this is a bug from previous versions that got fixed but seems to have recurred.

Would it be possible to know what are the conditions to allow a creature to have and drink potions with SCS.

the creature HGSKL02 (assassin skeleton in TOB, ascension ) do not use his invisibility potions with SCS.

Also ORCS, OROGS do not have and drink potions anymore.

Have a few more bugs to claim. I realize I've been posting a bunch in this thread, but I don't want to miss whatever deadline there is and these bugs seem serious enough.

1) Irenicus's AI in the Ascension final battle is strange. I can't get him to cast any HLAs on Hardcore. He also throws Melf's Minute Meteors instead of Energy Blades. I tried increasing the difficulty to Insane, and I also tried fine tuning the mage HLA difficulty, but his choice of spells is always the same.

2) After a certain amount of time passes, Balthazar will give his speech about needing to cut the flow of energy to Melissan, even though the fighting is still going on.

- I remember seeing others mention these two problems in the past. Might be something fixed in v31 which wasn't re-fixed in v32?

3) The Fallen Solars in the final battle can use Teleport Without Error to get onto the islands, from where they are inaccessible. Fortunately, they don't seem to be able to shoot from the islands either. Once Balthazar gives his speech, the islands will become connected and then they behave normally.

4) Bodhi, in the final battle, is the improved version, which casts Cloud of Bats, the sleep, cold ADHW, etc. This didn't happen before and judging from the readme, only Irenicus and Sendai should be modified.

5) I see "Point" taking hits in the combat log. I assume this is some dummy monster meant for targeting Teleport Without Error which shouldn't be getting attacked.

Balthazar's script is borked. He doesn't seem to want to fight, and stands around doing nothing half the time; if you try to get him to attack an enemy, even during time stop, then he throws out a few hits then stops doing anything. I believe this is another of those old problems.

Also, Balthazar's regeneration isn't working. He has an innate 8 HP/sec regeneration effect listed in Near Infinity, but I noticed him staying at "Injured" forever and ctrl-Q showed his HP was not increasing. I tried setting the target of his regeneration effect to Self instead of None, but without success. Giving him the greater wolfwere ring and editing that to be 8 HP/sec instead of 4 HP/sec restored his regeneration. I tested Jon Irenicus, Bodhi, and the Fallen Solars as also having non-functional regeneration. I assume this would also apply to the Ascension final battle versions of Yaga-Shura and Abazigal.

I was making Balthazar fight Irenicus 1v1 to test his behavior and regen, and noticed that Balthazar was using Chant/Flip Resistances against him, which is suicidal. It looks like his script calls for him to use Chant whenever the nearest enemy has 5 or more attacks per round, but that causes him to flip when attacking mages with Melf's Minute Meteors or Energy Blades. There's another condition for using Chant which I don't really understand, but it seems like that could also be set off by melee-range MMM in between spells.

In my last run, after killing all the enemies, Balthazar did not give his speech about the energy pools, so I was stuck.

I *think* all of this is vanilla Ascension, not SCS - I don't touch Balthazar's script, and I mostly don't touch the creature abilities.

Sorry, you're correct. This is all there in vanilla Ascension; as the granddaddy of all BG2 mods I didn't expect it to have bugs like these.

In case someone else searches for this in the future, it appears that the non-working regeneration is because the regeneration timing mode is Instant/Permanent until death; changing this to Delay/Permanent with a duration of 1 appears to fix it. I'll go report this in the Ascension thread instead.

I think these are probably bugs introduced by the recent EE-friendly rewrite of Ascension.

I am trying to install the v32 - 8 version, and was able to install most of the components except the Smarter Mages (and the components that rely upon it.) This is what it says:

I am trying to install the v32 - 8 version, and was able to install most of the components except the Smarter Mages (and the components that rely upon it.) This is what it says:

Sorry, just to add to this - I tried out the "Level Zero" component. Outside of it slowing down the game momentarily when Imoen joined, I noticed that it took away the button for her thieving skills. So she has no way to detect or unlock, etc. 

If I have since installed the Tweaks Anthology on top of it, is it feasible to uninstall that component and try to start a new game again, or should I start with a fresh install and just not install that component?

The readme says: "Engine limitations lead to two slight awkwardnesses with this component. Firstly, thieves don't gain quite the right number of skill points at level one. To fix this, thieves are given one-off innate abilities that allow you to increase your thief skills by the missing amount. Secondly, mages and bards have their spellbooks selected from a fixed list (you don't get to choose yourself)."

Could you have missed the innate abilities part?

The documentation for Improved D'Arnise Keep is confusing. It just compares SCS with Tactics, which is not very useful for those of us who know nothing about Tactics (which are the majority, I guess). It would make more sense to explain what the changes are compared to Vanilla.

Also in the documentation, the description of the Ease-of-use party AI  seems incomplete. Point 4 doesn't mention Jan's Bruiser Mates.

That's fair. When I wrote SCS - ten years ago! my god - Tactics was the go-to tactical-challenge mod. That's not the case any more; I should reflect that.

Hi,

I've just tried a new installation of SCS v32. RC8 and couldn't get two elements to install: the improved spellhold battle and minor encounters, both with the same error: out of memory. I've attached both the weidu log (basically the only other mod installed is level1npcs) and the debug log (had to cut it down to just the error due to size).

I also have one minor bug in EET-BG1 to report: Duke Liia still doesn't do anything during the ducal palace battle. She's a mage, but she doesn't even get any prebuffs and just stands there, which makes the fight very one-sided. C
