Aka, it doesn't need the very old file structures to load faster. As that's still an issue today with BG2 without the EE's but it runs fine if it's an EE game. Quote Link to comment
lynx
Looks like you ran out of RAM and the swap file windows uses wasn't enough to compensate. Quote Link to comment
reallyhairydave
Probably that memory leak then, it was pulling over 7GB of RAM that time Quote Link to comment
reallyhairydave
So when you said don't worry about biffing did you mean it's fine to do or try to skip it where possible? Sorry if I'm being a bit dense, I've not slept properly in months and am off work because I was making silly mistakes Quote Link to comment
lynx
Yeah, no need to reinstall just because of that. I guess it could help a bit at runtime, but I don't know if significantly. Quote Link to comment

reallyhairydave
Oh, one more question. I know the EE tool that replaced BWS won't do the old BGT but is there another one that replaced it that I've missed? Would definitely help for a cleaner installation if one exists Quote Link to comment
lynx
Nope. Btw, I'll make the mod just skip empty files. Also, looking into ways to see if your leaking is from your perl distribution itself or the mod. Quote Link to comment
reallyhairydave
Yeah Avast really hates Peal, I have to completely disable it while running the scripts as it intercepts the powershell stuff which makes me all sorts of nervous about security issues. I tried adding some exceptions but nothing seemed to work Quote Link to comment
lynx
There's no powershell involved here, but maybe you're mistaking perl for it. Looking at the code, I invoke perl for each file separately, so any leaks would be cleaned up immediately afterwards. I then suspect the leak to be in weidu. Quote Link to comment
reallyhairydave
As I said Weidu has over 200 instances running in task manager when I'm looking, they don't manually close. When I say it's killing powershell I've got a cmd window up and Avast tells me it's stopped something, the cmd prompt changes and Pearl isn't runnning anymore Quote Link to comment
lynx
That's odd indeed. It's certainly not a deliberate design choice. I suspect something is insufficient in its forking implementation or something went wrong when adding the capture of return status support to AT_NOW. Or it's just AV sabotage ... I've pushed an updated mod, so now amilowhatever shouldn't be a problem any more. Quote Link to comment
reallyhairydave
Cool, I've grabbed it. Probably take a few hours to install everything again Quote Link to comment
lynx
Why? It's the last mod to be installed, so weidu won't touch anything before that. Quote Link to comment
