SCS RC9 homework

Recommended Posts

Just in case anyone has some spare time and feels like being helpful, here's a list of things in RC9 I'd particularly like checked:

1) Are fiends working correctly now when summoned by enemies? (SUSUNEER, DW#LICH1 and HLLAYEN should all summon fiends, if you console them in.) I'm interested in how things work with and without Smarter Fiends, and also about compatibility issues with Spell Revisions and aTweaks.

2) Does the spellhold item-stealing component handle item stacks correctly?

3) Does the new Restoration component succeed in removing, e.g., vampire blood drain and mind flayer intelligence drain?

4) Are vampires properly responsive to the difficulty slider?

5) Are HLAs (player and enemy) working correctly?

6) Are spawn points working okay, particularly at higher difficulty settings?

7) On EE, does the integration of the difficulty widget into the UI work okay?

I'm also interested in how priests, especially high-level priests, are fighting when IWD spells are installed, but that's more a combat-optimization issue and I'll post about it somewhere else.

With the default UI, on EE 2.5.16.6, I'm not seeing any issues with the built in difficulty widget; good job, it's a nice touch.

The SCS difficulty innate still appears, but removes itself after use. I'm only bringing this up in case it isn't intended, as I could have sworn that earlier in my current campaign it didn't behave this way, and instead had an explicit 'remove the difficulty ability' option.

The widget works great in-game. But I've tried to use it before starting a new adventure (I usually set all the options before, so when I saw the new button I just clicked it) and then it just freezes the game. I'm not sure it's meant to be clickable at that point?

The HLA's for players are.

The HLA's for enemies no.

(Example: Watch keep 1st Floor: Mage statue: Uses all spells except HLA's: Improved Alacrity, Dragon Breath: Under innate's)(When Mage statue is Control+Q'd clicking HLA:Under innate's does nothing)

Think this is to do with the HLA's now being in innate's for enemies and scripts.

Yes it is.

(However only from testing only in game, its fine)

If:During initial screen of new game where asked to "Pick difficulty"  it is left on default, and then later changed  in-game: Yes.

If:During initial screen of new game where asked to "Pick difficulty"  it is changed to, e.g. 'insane' may lead to some mages getting unlimited contingencies in battle. (WK statues).

So i obviously leave it to change in game.

Please ignore this part of my previous post as I cannot replicate it.

Question regarding the widget: I'd like to fine tune the spell changes, but I couldn't find any option to do so? Specifically, I'd like to remove the "fireshield stops insect plague" element. Before I just didn't install it, but I don't recall this option being available during installation in v.32.

You must configure the stratagems.ini file if you don't want some spell/item modifications but you can't obviously do this in-game as it changes the files themselves.

Edit: you must do it before install of course the parameter in question is no_initial_change_insect_plague

Does the HLA issue apply to all enemies or is it only an issue in certain situations? I'm not sure if it's worth installing v32 if enemies can't use HLAs.

Does this occur for all enemies all the time or just under certain conditions? Enemies were able to use HLAs in previous versions of SCS, even if innate HLAs were installed, so is that behavior changed?

Sorry for the computer illiterate question, but just to be sure: it's set to 0, so if I change the value to 1 it won't install?

I have also one question regarding the HLAs, as I'm not sure if the following is intented or not: I have the 'HLAs are innate abilities' installed. I have dual-classed my mage after she got her fist HLA (improved alacrity) and, even though her mage class is still inactive, that ability gets refreshed upon resting.

Can't install RC9 on BG:EE. It says "not installed due to errors" and then "instant_prebuffspell.2da" something like that and rolling back. All AI and tactical components are not installed, in fact entire mod fails to install.

Does the HLA issue apply to all enemies or is it only an issue in certain situations? I'm not sure if it's worth installing v32 if enemies can't use HLAs.

My periodic reminder that this is a release version for testing. If you just want to play, use v31 for now.

The gate spell summons either a Balor (if caster alignment:chaotic) or Pitt Fiend (if caster alignment:lawful), Random (if caster alignment:neutral).

The Pitt Fiends are  invisible.

No problem with the question you're right it should not install if set to 1.
