Everyone gets APR bonus from specialization bug

Recommended Posts

I have the same issue as OP! Also as per this thread https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/77637/fighters-not-receiving-apr-bonus-at-level-7. The component is broken on BG2EE, but it's working fine on my BG1EE install.

I took a nose about in NI as subtledoctor suggested in that thread and could see what was wrong, but not why or how best to fix it. My working BG1EE version of CLABFI01.2DA (and the other relevant class tables) has a row for AP_D5_NUMAT to be applied at levels 7 and 13 as expected. On BG2EE that row is missing for some reason, so nothing ever gets applied and they sit at 1 APR.

I can't reinstall to fix this without ruining my savegame thanks to Item Randomiser being installed. Also, I don't know if these tables are used by enemies at all, and I don't want to gimp SCS enemies by mistake.

So should I copy the CLABxxx files from my working BG1EE install over the broken BG2EE versions? Presumably this won't retrospectively fix things for my >7th level characters, but I can then use EEKeeper to copy the effects from a new character or something similar?

Attached weidu logs and comparison of the 2da files.

Maybe another mod overwrote the CLAB table?

You are overthinking the fix. If you can see the CLAB table with the missing row in NI/DLTCEP/a text editor, then you can literally just type in the missing row. You don’t even have to type the while thing - you can stop after the column for 13th level. Then save the 2da file, start a new game (or load a savegame with a 6th-level warrior) and voila, you’re good to go.

Cool, have done that, thanks! Although characters were >7th level so I did have to add the D5_NUMAT effect manually too.

I'm still curious about how this issue would effect enemy creatures though? Are their attack numbers meant to be calculated in the same way as PCs (they have class levels after all) or is it completely different?

Most of the monsters have their class set to be monstorious, so they use the APR they have, so they use the one they have set in either the weapon + the one set in the creature. So Mindflayers for example can always hit 4 times per round.. aka it kills you in two rounds if it can hit 100%, no matter what. But there are a few that don't have offsets that up their APR, and they use the actual class... and if that's not enough, you can install the SCS component that matches the creatures with their kits more closely, which then adds this class feature in with all the other things ... and install it after the tweak is.

Hey, just to let you know, I just encountered the same issue with BG2EE. WeiDu log (removing "Everyone gets APR bonus from specialization" solves the missing fighter APR issue):

Hey, sorry for necroposting, blame google , not me:

I just want to thank the person who said about bugged "Everyone gets APR bonus from specialization", I just leveled my Ranger to 7th level and surprised he never received +0.5 APR. Tested with new game (got XP with console) for Fighter - same story - 1 APR on 7th level. Googled and found this thread. Uninstalled this component and now everything works normally!
