Soulwinds Posted August 2, 2019 Share Posted August 2, 2019 Hey, so I have been doing a play through with Calin and have come across a rather interesting (but annoying) issue. As soon as Chapter 4 in BG 2 EE starts, the glitch kicks and Calin is constantly trying to enter dialogue mode. Sometimes it fires and you get the dialogue options like you started talking to him, but mostly it just freezes Calin in place. You can't initiate a save because you cannot save while in dialogue mode. I have currently installed parts of NPC Flirts, Romantic Encounters, as well as Skip Chateau Irenicus. I used a modmerger, if that matters. I attempted a re-install of everything, reused the modmerger and I went back to an earlier save and played through again to Chapter 4 and experienced the same issue. Does anyone one know how I can fix this? I'm still relatively new to mods. jastey Posted August 2, 2019 Share Posted August 2, 2019 What kind of modmerger did you use? If you are referring to Modmerge, that is only needed for SoD from GOG or Steam. In your install order, it makes no sense to have the component for Calin's dialogue timer before the actual main component, at least I think so, dependent on how it is coded. This is not related to your problem, though. Your problem is a so called stutter bug, where the script is calling a dialogue but doesn't find a matching dialogue in the dlg. You can install the Stutter Debug Tool and look the according script block up with Near Infinity, or you find a helpful soul who has a look at your savegame. Quote Link to comment

I tried Stutter debug and got <CHARNAME>: Running block 67 of KKCALIN.BCS on repeat at the start of chapter 4. So I'm assuming that is the stutter that is holding things up? I have never tried NI. Would downloading it help me solve the "Running block 67 of KKCALIN.BCS " problem? update* I don't have JAVA or Internet Explorer on my computer, so that might make things more difficult upon reading the requirements to run NI. There's one for BG1EE+SoD, there isn't one for BG2EE ... And yes, you need to be able to view the file in question. You don't need Internet Explorer... just "Java Runtime Environment", which you can download by using any internet browser(which is why the IE is mentioned probably and the ease of which it's in IE), but it's like any of the ones you can use to view this... Found it on another form to fix a previous problem from years ago. Anyhow, I downloaded everything and I found the block that is causing the stutter (I think) but I'm not sure what to do about it. The dialogue holding up the whole proceedings was a result of the Romantic Encounter, An Evening with Aran. The simplest way to remove the issue is actually to un-install that particular part of the RE mod. Fixed!!! Well, worked around, but it's good enough for me. lol The stutter is gone! Just to make this clear, the bug is not due to the RE mod but because of how Calin's reaction is scripted. Still, your workaround does the trick alright until this is fixed in Calin.
