Experience gain on Joinup bug?

Recommended Posts

Okay, here's some test subjects for you @K4thos.

https://ufile.io/ib86pbzs

I couldn't find a proper savegame with Mazzy so I picked more interesting (I guess?) examples:

1. Jan. Gets overleveled instantly above my party. Keeps leveling up for no reason.

2. Imoen. If you try to level her up, she will get a levelup & a nuke to 220 000 exp.

3. Hexxat. She levels just like Mazzy (ignoring limits) but also seems to NOT get profficiencies at level 0. This is most likely SCS bug because the component to customize NPC profficiencies and stuff is from SCS, but I'm including it either way. Even if you don't care for SCS bugs, you'll still see Hexxat leveling up till 4,000,000 exp or something while the cap should prevent her that.

CRE files included for the above NPCs. All of them, since I didn't know which one to pick.

Mods used:

SCS

Unfinished business 1&2

NPC project

Imoen Romance

ATweaks

SOME ascension files (couldn't install all since they clash with Imoen Romance)

EETweaks

Banterpack

Note: I did install Imoen Romance despite warnings (lol, love that mod) that it would potentially bug up. I guessed that it would relate to new (EE) chars so I didn't advance the plot with them in party. I would normally use Neera so I modded Aerie to replace her by kit/stats. So far, so good. No bugs to be seen.

These are already in the EE games !

By the by, the above list is not complete... the list that's has all the info is the weidu.log files that you can find in the game folders after install, so we need that content... you can open the files with Notepad, to copy paste them to a message via ctrl + C and ctrl + V.

I believe I uninstalled NPC project since I half-expected it to conflict with Imoen mod eventually.

I've tested Hexxat and Imoen saves:

- the 1 250 000 XP cap for Hexxat worked as expected (max SoA value since your main character had almost 4 000 000 XP),

- after level up Imoen progressed from Mage 13/Thief 10 to Mage 14/Thief 10.

So yeah, it's not EET bug. As for which mod has compatibility issues here, dunno. Most likely code that gives the XP has been added to override slot script, so please upload HEXXAT.BCS located in your override directory and post list of mods that shows up after running following BAT file in your main game folder: https://ufile.io/ujumjeiz

This should be enough to figure out which mod is responsible for it.

Hexxat.bcs included below.

The list of mods is as follows:

Mods affecting HEXXAT.BCS:
00000: /* created or unbiffed */ ~EET/EET.TP2~ 0 0 // EET core (resource importation)1.0 RC12
00001:  ~STRATAGEMS/SETUP-STRATAGEMS.TP2~ 0 4100 // Improved NPC customisation and managementv32.5

I guess this means SCS is responsible.

SCS readme file says:

Quote

This component makes it much easier to customise NPCs and to make sure they keep up with your main character even if you swap them in and out of the group. When it is installed, NPCs (including mod-added NPCs) join your party at level zero. If you want, you can activate a special 'customise' power on their innate abilities to change their class and kit to whatever you like. After that, you can level the character to first level and choose their proficiencies, skills and the like. The character will continue levelling until they reach about the same level as your character. (The 'customise' power is unavailable once you increase above level zero.)

so I don't see why Hexxat, Jan or Mazzy getting about 4 000 000 XP when your CHARNAME also has almost 4 000 000 should be considered a bug. Sounds like it works as expected here.

The only compatibility issue seems to be Imoen losing her XP like you mentioned. EET adds few lines to her script to handle her XP before dual classing (I think, can't say I fully understand what was the purpose for it), which likely conflicts with SCS code - I will install the component and see what's up.

There's also the case of Jan getting abnormal amount of exp - way beyond charname's XP.

What kit does your character have ? Asking because the so called XP penalties don't actually reflect the counted XP in character joining...

can't reproduce it with you save after installing SCS component. Jan leveled up to 12/14 (880 000XP * 2 = 1 760 000) which is in line with your CHARNAME total XP in that save = 1 637 498 (not exactly the same value but very close)

Imoen also didn't loose the XP like you described.

No idea what is happening in your game but it looks like SCS component is compatible with vanilla EET (at least based on this limited test case)

One last thing you can test is whether it will remain the same after:

1. you've changed the class/kit through the SCS component

2. you've used eekeeper to change something?

Unless it's neither of those. In that case I guess I should eventually re-install and check whether this issue persists. Probably after I'm done with my current playthrough, though.

Please upload IMOEN2.BCS file. With it I should be able to at least reproduce that Imeon loosing XP bug (since the EET code for XP decrement is in that file, there has to be something in your version of the script that conflicts with it, even if I can't reproduce it with just SCS component installed).

I'm afraid I'm out of ideas. Even with the above script Imoen doesn't lose any XP in my game. After loading the save she has: 1 521 077 XP in mage class, which allows her to level up from level 13 to 14, after which she stays at that XP value.

The thing is, if you have pre-joined NPC and then they join the party, it trips first the SCS's this component:

~STRATAGEMS/SETUP-STRATAGEMS.TP2~ 0 4100 // Improved NPC customisation and managementv32.5

which sets the character current level to be 1, and she then gains the default XP from the BG2EE, which is near the amount of XP the primary party player character has... and if they are dualed class, this means the first class from the dual can be at level 2 or 45 and their XP amount from that doesn't count into the new total until they regain the old class abilities, which is a level up away at least.

There's one more thing I remembered: I did EEKeep Imoen because she for some reason started with 220 000 exp in Mage class. And I read that she's supposed to start with a total of 1,250,000 exp if your party is high enough. And mine certainly was (2,500,000 exp at that point). So maybe some of those bugs are a byproduct of EEkeeping the chars, maybe it messes up something. At least the XP reduction may be tied to this. Plus, the Imoen Romance mod may alter/conflict Imoen in particular.

I can't recall doing anything for Jansen through EEkeeper. He's also not modded otherwise.

I'll record a short demo of what happens "in my game" but it will obviously not solve anything.

There are other weird bugs I'm having, anyway. Chars which changed class (by SCS component) cannot die. They don't go below 1 HP.
