Bugs, issues, or suggestions?

No worries at all.  I'm not the kinda person who gets bent out of shape over things like that, and I appreciate any and all suggestions for improving the mod.  I agree 100% on item progression, and sometimes, when I am working on creating a new item, or an upgrade for an exisiting item, it can be hard to *not* make something overpowered, especially if its for a class that I like playing.

I am an oldschool RPG player myself as well.  I cut my rpg grinding teeth on the original Dragon Warrior for the NES back when I was around 8 or 9 years old.  Back then, I was able to get to the Dragonlord but never actually beat him.  Why?  Because I hated grinding levels, being an impatient little kid and all, so I ran like hell from most fights :)

I did however, play and beat the original Final Fantasy when it was released, and that's the game that really sold me on RPGs.  I have played through it and it's remakes countless times over the years.

I got into PC gaming when I was 19 and was able to save up enough to buy my own PC.  Diablo was the first CRPG I played, then the original BG when it was released.  Been hooked ever since

One way to better balance bonuses is with penalties.  For example, imagine a wearable item meant for casters that reduced casting speed by 2, but increased poison damage taken by 50%.  There are ways to reduce or ignore such extra damage, but they take resources to mitigate, and for those who simply want to get through the game faster, it's more pain but also more gain.

Other effects I'd like: Items that give save DC bonuses to the caster (which is D&D 3.x speak for the Baldur's Gate equivalent of subjects taking penalties to their saves against spells).  I'm unsure what numbers are appropriate, but since creatures some time in mid-to-late BGII tend to become immune to anything requiring a save, this lets save-or-else effects work longer.

Also, power levels are subjective.  Baldur's Gate turns 22 this year, making it old enough to legally consume various recreational drugs, graduate college (in an accelerated course), vote, and do "adult" things, and people are well familiar with this "RPG Child" and have played with it their way for decades.  Personal discretion is simply required to determine what's too little, what's too much, and what's right.

Finally for now, what are your thoughts on having merchants stock these new items or/and upgrade components?  I recall having an abundance of in-game currency around mid-BGII since our Sorcerer/Keldorn group had so little stuff to buy.  (The Robe of Vecna was on a demilich in Watcher's Keep who died easily.  Maybe it rolled poorly and we rolled well.)

Hi, I have trouble with the "Failed to find enough lines to perform an INSERT_2DA_ROW" bug, and I am not playing on EET, just regular BG2EE.

Is there a simple way to resolve the issue ? The old version of the mod was (and is) working well, but the latest one is not. I really would like to try using the new items !

Thank you !

I have never been able to reproduce this error in my testing to do any real troubleshooting.  I am making adjustments to how the mod installs in the next version to hopefully resolve the issue.  In the mean time, I recommend installing the mod on a clean install of BG2:EE, then installing any other mods afterwards.

Thank you for your quick answer. I did that, and it seems to work well for now. Once again, thank you for this mod, it is really amazing !

This is a great mod. I have an idea for two items.
1) I love the idea of Gorion's amulet from Bg1npc mod:

@ 19 = ~ Amulet of Gorion ~
@ 20 = ~ Imoen gave this amulet <NAME> for his birthday. The centerpiece is gold
etc

A very joyful optimistic text, I like it. ) If this amulet cannot be imported(problem with autors etc), then Imoen(She is now a specialist in amulets) can take any amulet from SOD and make similar amulet even better and with a beautiful inscription. Good gift for charname.

2) Dagger <Charname> from the Mages Stronghold. It is a weak dagger, but it bears the name of the Charname. Can you improve this? For example, Cromwell pair it with an SOD item or not and make it a + 2 dagger with 0.5 extra attack, or +1 int, or +1 wisdom, or some other bonus. Then Cespenar will make the dagger even better. +1 additional attack or other at your discretion.

Thank you for the suggestions!

For the amulet - that seems a better fit for an NPC type of mod(Jastey's Imoen 4 Ever perhaps?).

For the dagger:  I am in the middle of a big update for this mod, and you never know what might shake out :)

Hi ! I don't know if it is the right place to share this, but I made a table of the recipes for a few item upgrading mods, including this one of course. I posted it on the beamdog forum : here

I really enjoy playing with sod2bg2, as I said in my old post on this forum, and it is one of the few mods that make me want to play baldur's gate again and again. Thank you for your work, and I'm looking forward to see the next updates !

The LT23 dialogue for Dynaheir's romance seemed to have been skipped. I have slept multiple times and her subsequent dialogues were activated instead, I've currently activated all of her dialogues from LT25 and prior with the exception of the one I'm reporting.

P.S. I made a post a few minutes ago reporting this incident disregarding there's already a post about reporting bugs. My fault.

That table is great!  Please feel free to make a post in the main thread sharing your work.   Thank you again for your compliments, and enjoyment of my mod.  I am making steady progress on the next update, and I think you will enjoy it quite a bit.

Is this issue related to SoD 2 BG2EE or another mod?

@Saphael & @Daeros_Trollkiller
May we get the table of recipes for this mod officially added as in the mod's documentation, perhaps as a spoiler?

While not as nice as the table Saph made, I did include a list of the recipes in the spoilers section of the readme:  https://github.com/Gibberlings3/SoD-to-BG2EE-Item-Upgrade/blob/master/SPOILER-RECIPES.md

Hi, I'm pleased to see the table might be useful ! However, I didn't write some of this mod's item names because I used the recipe file, and not the "new items" one. I will make a new post with the "full" table after your next update, to avoid confusion, and to kill two birds in one stone.

Can't wait to see it !
