subtledoctor
I gather that SCS patches weapons to project their enchanted status, so that e.g. a mage facing a fighter with a Longsword +3 will cast PfMW or Improved Mantle, but will not waste a 7th-level spell slot casting Mantle. Question is, for PfMW specifically, do SCS mages look at the enchantment value of the opponent's weapon (the +x value at 0x60 of the .ITM file)? Or do they look at the enchanted flag that such weapons have (bit6 at0x18 of the .ITM file)? Quote Link to comment
DavidW
SCS doesn't actually do this - I think it would be cheating to peek at a weapon's enchantment status. I mark up weapons to help creatures work out when their own attacks are ineffective (mostly this is unnecessary in EE, of course). SCS wizards cast their protection spells without reference to what weapon the enemy is actually using. (Though higher-level wizards tend to skew more towards carrying PMW and less towards carrying Mantle et al). Quote Link to comment
