HarbsNarbs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOr4KG1fWpc I delved into older editions of DND and looked at the mind flayer objectives over the years. Always loved the hidden quest line in BG2 and felt like it could have been so much more... Quote Link to comment
Jarno Mikkola
The very same thing as nearly everything else. Not to overcome, but to overgrow. Quote Link to comment
Sir_Carnifex
HarbsNarbs, I stumbled across your channel by accident. It was a fun trek back into the past and revisiting the Baldur's Gate series. Now I'm interested in picking up my attempts at modding all over again. Quote Link to comment

Endarire
@HarbsNarbs The simplest reason that Larian made Illithids do what they did is because Illithids are iconic D&D, they haven't been prominently featured as central characters in any D&D video game yet to my knowledge, and they're attention-grabbing. There may still be well-established lore tie-ins like the Sunset World or time travel, but those reasons didn't matter to me (and I didn't know about them until after watching your video) when I saw the trailers, which obtained and retained my attention for being pleasantly different.
