Guest SCSPlayer
I've thoroughly enjoyed SCS thus far, but I've noticed something odd. In my first SCS playthrough, I noticed that the cult wizard inside Shandalar's house cast Mantle, which is a level 7 spell. The SCS read me says that he is treated as an 8th level wizard, but he is clearly casting spells way too high level for that to be the case. In my latest run, he also cast a flesh to stone spell on Coran (he saved, thankfully). I opened up Near Infinity today to see what was going on, and lo and behold, he is actually a level 15 Necromancer, and he also has finger of death and death spell memorized! By comparison, the cult leader Tracea Carol is only level 11, and doesn't use any spells higher than level 5. Is this intentional? Quote Link to comment
DavidW
What other mods do you have installed? Quote Link to comment
Guest SCS Player
I have aTweaks, Tweaks Anthology, klatu Tweaks & Fixes, and BGEE classic movies. I checked the baldur's gate wiki as well, and they are already level 15 in the base game with no mods. However, they don't have any spells above the 2nd level memorized, so they are effectively level 3 in terms of power. What I suspect is happening is that SCS is detecting the spell slots of the cult wizard and giving him spells appropriate for a 15th level necromancer, making him substantially tougher. Additionally, the cult enforcers are listed as level 15/15 fighter/mages with the transmuter kit, but scs doesn't give them any spells over level 5, so they are reduced to essentially level 10 in terms over power. I think that SCS should instead set their creature files to be level 10/10, and set the cult wizard's creature file to be level 8 (as the readme states they are). Even without being given 6th and 7th level spells these dudes would still be nasty with their wands and level 4/5 spells. Quote Link to comment
DavidW
SCS is supposed to do that already, so this looks like a bug somewhere. Do you have the ‘improved demon cult’ component installed? Quote Link to comment

DavidW
OK, looking at this more closely: the cult wizard (cult2.cre)definitely needs a level reduction. There are two cult enforcer files: cult3.cre and cultt1.cre . Of these, cultt1 should be being lowered to level 10/10 by the demon-cult component. cult3 doesn't actually fight you - he's just there for the cutscene where the dagger is stolen, and he disappears at the end of that cutscene. Can you confirm that cultt1.cre is also level 15/15 ? That's very odd if so. Quote Link to comment
Guest SCSPlayer
I rechecked with Near Infinity, and yes, the Cult Enforcer in cultt1.cre seems to be at the correct level (10 Fighter/10 Transmuter). It's the cult3.cre that's at level 15/15, but as you said, that guy only appears for the cutscene. I checked the tpa file for the improved demon cultists, and it indeed appears that the cult wizard's level isn't affected by scs.
