Re-recruit companions after Siege of Dragonspear?

Recommended Posts

So I've started playing another BGT run after some years....
Just finished the BG1 storyline, then finished the SOD start.

But now all my companions are gone. (I'm currently missing Xan.)

Is it possible to re-recruit them somewhere in BG2 after SOD?(since SOD doesn't have all the companions)

Or maybe even add them via console?

Another question: what about the custom characters, when creating your own party at the start of BG1? Are they gone for good as well? Thanks!

Are you playing EET? If you have the Xan BG2 mod installed, then yes, he will rejoin you in Athkatla as intended. Custom characters or mod NPCs who have not been updated for SoD will remain in your party, but will naturally feature no content for SoD, so you might as well give the new additions a try. That also helps balance out the inflation of experience over the course of the trilogy.

Xan won't be in BG2 SoA/ToB either ... but there's a mod for that.

You can use the Console, in EE games, it's just:

C:CreateCreature(".cre -name") like:

C:CreateCreature("xan")

But there's a but, this character is likely to be very silent, or it will resay the whole conversation tree you have already had, and then it will have forgotten the entire thing you probably summoned it for, aka it's the character from the begin of the game, not the companion you were forced to give up.

Custom characters... meaning those made via making a multiplayer game, making characters controlled by the single user, and saving, and moving that save from mpsave folder to the save folder... won't ever exit the party, so there's generally no need to worry. And you can always, re-do the separation by moving the save game, export the characters and loading the save in multiplayer mode to include them in, and then moving the save back. Easy.
