Getting images to play at more than 15 frames a second

One of my animations only looks good if it cycles very fast. I'm going to use it for a projectile, preferably a Comet projectile. As the main image file of the projectile it is limited to 15 frames a second, which is too slow, but I can put an invisible picture in that field and go instead for a Trailing animation. There I can use a VVC, which permits speed of up to 25 frames. With the trailing frequency 1 and a small number of frames to play in the VVC the image flies across as a single unit. The problem here is that a trailing animation with "Comet" flies horizontally, it doesn't descend from the sky. On the other hand, I have once made a Comet that did pull behind a trail from on high, only I don't remember what the settings were. I need either to try to recreate that effect or look for some other way to get this comet to bend. Maybe with the "Projectile width" setting? "Curved path"? If someone knows how to do this, I'd appreciate advice.

How so ? It's 30 fps... or 120, or 1200 if you want to mess with the games speeed really badly as the game moves then at x4 or x40 speed. Or it can skip a few frames or be limited by other factors.

In BG1EE & Windows 10, it's set here: C:\Users\<windows user profile name>\Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition/Baldur.lua -file, in which it is this setting:

SetPrivateProfileString('Program Options','Maximum Frame Rate','30')
