Bg2ee mods for difficulty

Feel like returning for another run through of BG2EE after a few years.

 

If I want an increased challenge and better experience over vanilla BG2EE, what mods are complete and should I use?

 

I think Ascension was one of them. Is that fully playable and any other mods I should add with it, SCS I think is another one?

As long as you install ascension before SCS and no other mods as the readme recommends I'm sure you will be just fine. Ascension changes very little until the final battle against the big bad, but SCS is a much more complete experience spanning the entire campaign. They are very technically complex mods though, and nobody can guarantee which of the other 500+ mods will cause problems, so that is why it is usually recommended to install SCS last in the list so nothing else you include will fuck with it.
