BigRob
Up above the world, so high, like a diamond in the sky: Twinkling in the sky is a diamond star of 10 billion trillion trillion carats, astronomers have discovered. The cosmic diamond is a chunk of crystallised carbon, 1,500 km across, some 50 light-years from the Earth in the constellation Centaurus. How prophetic, that little song. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/3492919.stm Link to comment
CamDawg
Ooh, ooh! Geeky astrophysics stuff! Ooh! Thanks for the link, BigRob. Arthur C. Clarke used a similar idea (a diamond core for the planet Jupiter) as a plot device for 2061: Odyssey Three. Used the Lucy reference as well. Link to comment
