Sarevok able to learn Paladin HLAs

Upon leveling up Sarevok when recruited him in hell, I can pick Paladin HLAs like Summon Deva, Holy Aura, etc., and cast them through innate abilities. Is this intentional or a bug?

All right. The joinable version of Sarevok, initially, is a fighter with a null kit; his "Deathbringer" ability is a personal innate rather than something tied to a kit.

Your log includes my component that converts his null kit into a standard trueclass, the same as if you created a fighter without a kit in normal character creation.

And after that ... I don't see any blanket NPC customization in there, or anything that would likely change his class or kit. So he's probably still a trueclass fighter.

Can other trueclass fighters learn those HLAs in your install? You should be able to test it by creating one and leveling up with the cheat/debug console.

There is a mod that sort of does that


Truesword Kit for Mazzy. Not sure what ARVOREEN has as abilities

 

Trueswords: Specialized priests skilled in fighting with short swords, engineering, and reading and writing.

Keepers: Elite halfing warriors who'd fallen in battle and patrolled the Green Fields in the afterlife.

Arvoreen's Warders: A militaristic branch of the religion with less spellcasting ability, who made up for this drawback with tenacity and skills.

Faiths & Powers opens up the Paladin class to be more of a broad 'holy warrior' concept (appropriate for a world with dozens of deities) and includes a paladin of Arvoreen kit. (With special abilities not-so-coincidentally modeled on Mazzy's BG2 presentation.)

Not sure to what extent it is compatible with ToF though It is a paladin kit available to halflings. Remains to be seen how such things work with various ToF systems, and just how modular ToF ends up being. Once it is out of beta I'll give compatibility a thorough look.

(As this thread is about Sarevok, I will shut up now. Compatibility issues with this or that other mod probably deserves its own thread.)

Deities of Faerun gives her a fighter/ cleric Arvoreen kit, allowing her to use her weapons.

No, that block won't loop. What it says is, if the character is level 0 with positive XP, reset their XP to 0. That might run once, but after it runs the character's XP is zero so it won't run again unless you earn XP for the party.

Or you could just level that character up, and avoid the other condition of the script block forever. You know, like the whole NPC customization paradigm intends.

My mistake. I had Stutter Debug Tool installed to find the cause for Sarevok's stutter behavior. The log from that code block appears repeatedly in the dialogue box so I jumped into conclusion too quickly. My initial thought was maybe ToF checks for the kit level and since a true class doesn't have kit so the level is always 0, hence the block always qualifies. Coincidentally the stutter went away after I removed that code block. However when I tried again it came back in another code block.

I'll try to see if I can truly find something and report back.
