Guest Sanderson Posted August 28 Share Posted August 28 Hello! I have journeyed out of BG1 into a EET install with quite a few mods. All seems good until I see some errors in my spellbook. There are two Cure Moderate Wounds. One of them says it runs the Cause Moderate Wounds script, where the arrow is. Then you can see where it is highlighted there is another spell that uses dialogue lines as its title and description. In the game the icon looked like Shroud of Flame (hard to tell in EEkeeper) but it will not cast on any party member or npc and remains memorized. There are two Cure Moderate Wounds. One of them says it runs the Cause Moderate Wounds script, where the arrow is. Then you can see where it is highlighted there is another spell that uses dialogue lines as its title and description. In the game the icon looked like Shroud of Flame (hard to tell in EEkeeper) but it will not cast on any party member or npc and remains memorized. How can I figure out what caused this and try to fix it? Is this in BG1EE+SoD ? And without either modmerger or DLCmerge ? Cause if it is, then you need to reinstall everything, but before that clean your game folder after uninstall, then install either of those and ONLY THEN then install mods; as without it, the games dialog.tlk file will always be not the one attached to the Siege of the Dragonspear, but the normal games one, which will give those dialog descriptions as they are falsy set to a wrong thing(wrongly set string). SPPR221.spl is the normal 2nd level divine spell that probably could come from the DLCs spell list if it adds any. Also, weidu.log's content could help us, and of course any other iteration that comes to installing mods etc like mentioning that you have the DLCmerger or modmerger installed. I added bg1 mods first (preceded by dlcmerger) according to kathos' compatibility list, followed by EET mod and then other bg2/eet mods. My weidu log is in the op (first the bg1 log then bg2 log.) I can always just uninstall and delete everything and try again, but what a task. So I feel like I earned enough xp just doing the install process to gain at least one irl level. Anyways, that looks good. So it's likely to be the Darker Side of the Sword Coast 4.2 that could have this ... but to find out if it actually is, you can --change-log the "sppr221.spl" file... here's now to --change-log a file: Say, you have a weidu.exe in the game folder, just run a .txt file renamed as "runthis.bat" with this code inside it: mkdir change-log WeiDU.exe --log nul --change-log sppr221.spl >change-log/change-log.txt --out change-log pause .. the end pause is there so you actualy see the process complete and you then just need to push enter to exit. Guest Shard of Lost Knowledge Posted August 29 Share Posted August 29 221 shouldn't be a Cure Wounds spell. 221 is SoD2BG2 IU's broken method of installing Faerie Fire to EET. SoD added three cleric spells without exposing them to the player. These are Darkness 15" Radius, Faerie Fire and Dancing Lights. These spells are missing from BGEE/BG2EE but SoD2BG2IU attempts to add them. EET however, imports these spells, and is made aware that these aren't exposed to the player and also aware that spells exposed to the player should be in the first 50 slots. So when it merges SoD into BG2, and sees that BG2 lacks these three spells, it shifts Faerie Fire to SPPR100, an unusable slot (with Dancing Lights and Darkness getting SPPR150 and SPPR250, respectively) to free up the slots they would occupy for other mods. This, however also prevents SoD2BG2IU to install the spell using the straghtforward ADD_SPELL method. As a workaround, SoD2BG2IU attempts to rely on WeiDU's ADD_SPELL documentation mentioning that if you readd a spell on a new level, it will delete the previous instace, via installing a dummy second-level Faerie Fire first, then reinstalling it on a first level, but in practice, this wastes a spell slot - 221 in your install - and because the dummy spell isn't added to HIDESPL.2DA either, it leaves this junk exposed to the player ingame. Note that EET only does the spell reorganization if BG2 lacks the SoD spells, so having the EE Fixpack preinstalled before the EET import will ensure Fairie Fire stays at SPPR118. Pretty sutre this was already reported to SoD2BG2IU as well. Quote Link to comment

After looking this up (duh) I see someone else had this exact problem more than two years ago I think I will uninstall sod2bg2 and Dsotsc Cleric spells too. I didn't think bugs like that would trigger me but I hate seeing the spell book borked. Eta.
