The Lucky Sweater is knitted by distinguished gnomes.. Even though the Sweater seems uncomfortable to wear, it actually fits everybody nicely. Wearing the sweater gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling - and a strange longing for turnips. Upgraded by Cespenar + 1 Luck + 5% Crit chance Text: Washing the lucky sweater in nuts from the tree i life and elven holy water seems to have imbued the lucky sweater even further. The sweater does seem to smell oddly of turnips. Edited October 19 by StummvonBordwehr Quote
cdx Posted October 17 Posted October 17 On 10/9/2024 at 7:59 AM, jmerry said: Post #15: Never Alone and Tinkerer's Spectacles by @cdx Needs more flavor. Especially that anti-spider ability on the second - that's crying out for a story. Mechanically, "Never Alone" looks like just about the best monk hat I've ever seen. Immunity to some of the few status effects they aren't already protected from, plus crit protection? And you can throw out some mirror images every so often? That's a seriously powerful item. On the Tinkerer's Spectacles, the confusion when equipping them contradicts the "easy to use by anyone" part of the description. No, if they cause confusion, they're not easy to use. Then, +50 total points of thief skills? That's pretty serious stuff; only three items beat it in the entire series (Alora's rabbit foot, the Drow Piwafwi cloak, and the Mercykiller ring). Be wary of power level. I edited the post with the items, made them less powerful. Added a little story for the spider bit. The Tinkerer's Spectacles is meant to be a not extremely obvious joke. They are supposedly designed to be easy to use, but they aren't really, hence they are great for thieves who can actually use them, provide some magic to everyone, yet confuse most who try them on. Guest Brutalitops Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Item Name Defender Item Type Bastard Sword Item Description Besides its superb craftsmanship, tiny runes of power can be seen etched all along the surface. It's obvious a lot of time and effort went into its creation, and although not apparent at first, a slight blue glow can be seen emanating from the runes. Statistics Armor Class: -2 bonus Saving Throws: -1 bonus Physical Damage Resistance: +5% Thac0 +3 (+2?) Dmg: 2-8 +3 (+2?) Slashing Speed Factor: 7 Proficiency Type: Bastard Sword Type: one-handed Requires: 13 Strength Weight: 7 Art Direction: Glowing like Drizzt's weapon. Other Notes Not many decent magical Bastard Swords available before Chapter 4 so i thought this might be a good addition. Can be obtained in the Bridge District Store House when you take the fight that is. Not sure if it should be +2 or +3. Quote
jmerry Posted October 19 Posted October 19 (edited) I haven't been checking this quite enough lately ... new items since my big list, and follow-up posts on existing items. @StummvonBordwehr "The Lucky Sweater", originally in post #73, expanded on in post #80. Looks decent enough now. Though for convenience, it would be best to edit the full version with all needed information into one of those posts. @InKal "Juicy Socks", post #82 No. Clearly not a serious post. (And no, I did not mean to hit caps lock when I started typing "serious". That was a typo, and I've edited it out before submitting the post anyway. Except that then I wrote this note...) (Guest) Brutalitops "Defender", post #83 In my understanding, "defender" is a specific enchantment, and notable weapons with the property would then have a name on top of that. Like Drizzt's "Twinkle". I would strongly recommend giving your sword a name. One other possibility, suggested by that same "Twinkle", is to have the enchantment level (what it can hit) be higher than your sword's attack and damage bonuses; Twinkle actually hits as a +5 weapon despite having no hint of that in its name or description. That would be an interesting way of adding utility while not making it overly powerful. And yes, bastard swords are quite rare in early SoA. You've got generic +1 weapons, you've got Kondar which might as well be a basic +1 in this campaign, and that's it until the Underdark drops a few on you. Unless you clear out the first floor of Watcher's Keep, including the boss fight, for Foebane +3. @Marzx13 Potential revisions to existing items. Okay. While I see the power level as extreme, there's no clear guidelines there. And if you disagree with me on what's appropriate, that's fine. (I do know the auto-ammo thing; you didn't need to quote it at me. In that stat comparison I did, the other side was one of the auto-ammo weapons paired with real ammo. And your dart still blew it away.) But the one thing I won't compromise on is the quantity. Six items is too many. Both because most people only submitted one item, and because weapon classes never have that many powerful items. The only proficiency groupings that have more than two +4 or better weapons in the BG2EE campaign (not counting upgrades separately, not counting weapons that are only +4 against some enemies) are the two-handed classes (2H sword, halberd, staff) and the scimitar/wakizashi/ninjato group (one of each). Trim your collection down. Everything else ... if there's no comment, that means I'm fine with it. Or that I didn't pay enough attention. I'll be around most of Saturday. Guest Brutalitops Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Interesting, thanks for the suggestion ! did not know that about Twinkle, well in that case the Elysian Runeblade or Tel-quessir Runeblade ( since the Elf in the Store house has mastery in Bastard Swords i thought would be fiting for her to have the blade) is a +2 Weapon that hits like +4. Grand Inquisitor Posted October 20 Posted October 20 [UPDATE OF THE PREVIOUS ENTRY] Item Name Minstrel’s Defence Item Type Bastard Sword Item Description This finely crafted bastard sword is designed for both beauty and lethality. Its blade gleams with a silvery sheen, slightly tapering towards a sharp point. Along the fuller, faint musical notes are etched. The hilt is wrapped in dark brown leather, providing a comfortable grip. Intricate gold inlay runs along the length of the hilt, forming swirling patterns reminiscent of delicate filigree. The blade is enchanted to respond to music, particularly the voice of its wielder, offering protection and guidance when the wielder sings. When a song or melody is sung by its wielder, the sword resonates with the music, creating a shimmering barrier of ethereal sound around the wielder. The blade itself moves fluidly in tandem with the song, parrying attacks as though guided by an unseen hand, reacting to the tempo and tone of the music. A soft hum of harmony accompanies each deflection, as if the blade is weaving a protective melody of its own. STATISTICS: Combat abilities: - Grants a +2 bonus to saving throws. - Grants a +2 bonus to Armor Class and a 25% chance to parry melee attacks whenever the wielder is using Bard Song. THAC0: +3 Damage: 1d10+3 Damage type: Slashing Speed Factor: 7 Proficiency Type: Bastard Sword Type: One-handed Requires: 11 Strength Art Direction Other Notes The blade is currently in possesion of Aawill (https://baldursgate.fandom.com/wiki/Aawill). Grand Inquisitor Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Item Name Minstrel’s Refrain Item Type Buckler Item Description This distinctive buckler is a compact, round shield, expertly crafted with a sturdy wooden core reinforced by brass studs that line its outer edge. The surface is wrapped in rich, dark leather, worn smooth with use, yet still possessing a sleek, polished finish that gleams subtly in the light. The brass studs not only provide additional strength but also lend the buckler a decorative, almost regal appearance. What truly sets this shield apart is its magical attunement to sound, specifically the voice of its wielder. As the user begins to sing or play music, the buckler resonates in harmony with the melody, amplifying the sound and making it richer and more enchanting. The music swells with a mystical quality, becoming louder, yet more refined, as if the shield itself is adding an ethereal echo to every note. This magical resonance not only enhances the beauty of the performance but also imbues the sound with a subtle power, captivating listeners and lending the music an almost otherworldly allure. STATISTICS: Combat abilities: - Grants Lingering Song: when the user stops singing Bard Song, its effects last additional 1 round. - Grants Minstrels' Inspiration ability, which can be used once per day: When the user stops singing Bard Song, its effect last additional 3 rounds (stacking with the bonus above). Armor Class: -3 bonus (not against missile and piercing attacks) Proficiency Type: Buckler Requires: 4 Strength Art Direction Other Notes Can be purchased from Ribald Barterman. Quote
Lava Posted October 20 Posted October 20 I too had an idea at some point, but I wasn't sure if that would be cool or not... Leaving it here, just in case someone wanted a nice scimitar that could be helpful when we encounter an enemy that can be hurt only by +4 or +5 weapons, but not that cool outside such fights. May require some editing. * * * Scimitar of the Blood Sacrifice This scimitar can be a truly powerful weapon, but it's potential in unlocked through sacrifice of the one that wields it. If the tales are to be believed, this sword was created by an Imaskari bard, one that would do anything for power and knowledge. It's hard to say what exactly happened to that man, as some versions of the tale say he went missing, while others say it was this blade that killed him. STATISTICS: Chare abilities: – May cast Greater Malisson once per day Effect: The spell allows the caster to adversely affect all the Saving Throws of <PRO_HISHER> enemies. The effect is applied to all hostile creatures within the area of effect. Opponents under the influence of this spell make all Saving Throws at a penalty of -4. Equipped abilities: – Magic Resistance: +5% – Save vs. Death bonus: +2 Combat abilities: – Wielder may choose to improve enchantment, THAC0, and damage bonus to +4, but each hit performed by this weapon will also cause 1d4+1 damage to its wielder; the bonus may be improved to +5, but then, each successful hit is going to cause 1d4+2 damage to the wielder. In its +2 version, the weapon does not damage the wielder. THAC0: +2 Damage: 1d8+2 (slashing) Speed Factor: 2 Proficiency type: Scimitar/Wakizashi/Ninjato Type: One-handed Requires: 8 Strength Weight: 4 Quote
Grand Inquisitor Posted October 20 Posted October 20 (edited) Item Name Gilded Fang Item Type Scimitar Item Description This finely crafted saber boasts a gilded hilt, its intricate golden filigree radiating elegance and power. The blade, adorned with intricate motifs of serpent fangs along its edge, is honed to a razor’s edge, effortlessly slicing through flesh and drawing blood with the slightest touch. Each strike not only inflicts wounds but also leaves the target reeling, their defenses crumbling beneath the relentless assault. A weapon of unmatched craftsmanship, it is as deadly as it is beautiful, turning every battle into a display of lethal grace. It once belonged to a renowned warrior named Imran the Swift, a master swordsman from the distant lands of Calimshan. Imran was famed for his skill and precision in battle, cutting down foes with unmatched speed and elegance. Legend says that his blade was so sharp it could split a hair in midair and carve through chainmail as if through parchment. But one fateful night, in a haze of bravado and drink, Imran, eager to impress those around him and fueled by the thrill of adventure, agreed to a game of chance against a mysterious stranger, who goaded him with sly words and a confident smirk. “What’s a warrior without something to lose?” the stranger taunted, his eyes glinting like coins in the candlelight. “Surely you wouldn’t shy away from a little wager?” The crowd leaned in, their whispers of excitement wrapping around Imran like a heady intoxication. Caught in the moment, he felt the rush of adrenaline and the weight of their expectations. As the cards were shuffled and the stakes began to rise, Imran's mind raced, drowning out the caution that tugged at the edges of his thoughts. The thrill of the game called to him, leading him to wager his prized saber without a second thought. But as the final cards were laid down and the stranger's sly smile widened, Imran felt a cold knot of dread in his stomach; with one glance at the winning hand, he knew he had lost everything. The room fell silent as he realized his fate, and with a heavy heart, he watched his saber slip from his fingers. All memory of the legendary swordmaster faded, his name no longer spoken with reverence among the Calishite. But the blade continued its journey, passing through the fingers of both noble and nefarious alike, each owner unaware of the legacy it carried. Its edge remained forever sharp, waiting for the day it would be wielded once more by a master worthy of its storied past. STATISTICS: Combat abilities: - Applies a bleed effect on hit: 1 damage / 3 s No save allowed Lasts 2 rounds Multiple effects stack Save vs. paralysis or apply 1 AC malus (up to 3) THAC0: +2 Damage: 1d8+2 Damage type: Slashing Speed Factor: 1 Proficiency Type: Scimitar Type: One-handed Requires: 10 Strength Art Direction Other Notes A reward for completing The Dueling Families of Trademeet (if the player sides with Logan).
