Nathan82 Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Back again with another BGT install. Install order based on BWP 20.1. First issue so far, and its quite amusing; When loading a saved game it plays a sound like someone getting punched in the gut and the log displays - Keldorn: Damge Taken (2) Not sure where to begin with this one. Its not affecting the game but it is odd. Anyone got any ideas what's gone wrong this time? This happens with any save game, currently I'm in BG1, not got Keldorn in party. Does this mean string refs could be wonky in other places too? Thanks WeiDU.7z Quote
jastey Posted October 17 Posted October 17 You could install the Stutter Debug Tool and see whether it's a script that's doing this? Quote

Thanks for the suggestion, I've tried installing the first option from the stutter debug and nothing relevant showed up. I'll try installing the 2nd option now and retest later. I've found another, diiferent, problem already. Right clicking on JA#BELT1 (Protector of the unworthy) causes the game to crash. It first happened when I was looking at the store its in (STO4907 which is linked to UBMERCH.CRE), all other items in that store were ok. Right clicking to read the description on the belt and game crashes with the following; ASSERTION FAILED! Return Address: 0x75373C File: InfScreenInventory.cpp Line: 9909 Expression: bResult Message: (null) Anyone got any ideas on this? This item is from Jarl's Adventure pack, VERSION ~0.9.0 beta3~ The item is viewable in NearInfinity and I've exported and attached the file if its any help to anyone. I've also used changelog on the file and got the following; Mods affecting JA#BELT1.ITM: 00000: /* created or unbiffed */ ~JA#BGT_ADVPACK\SETUP-JA#BGT_ADVPACK.TP2~ 1 26 // Item-descriptions - Rythe's Last Arrow0.9.0 beta3 00001: /* acted upon in an undefined manner */ ~GENERALIZED_BIFFING.TP2~ 0 1 // Generalized BiffingBiff all files (recommended by the Big World Dudes)v2.7 So I think there's something wrong with the item directly from the mod rather than me having tried installing to much and messed it up, which makes change. Thanks Edited December 1 by Nathan82 removed attachment Quote
Nathan82 Posted October 18 Author Posted October 18 So I've just checked with the other stutterdebug option; Stutter Debug Tool -> Patching all scripts and scriptblocks - this will take a while! And still not seeing anything. I'm hearing the same sound when clicking 'New Game' from the main menu, the sound plays as the charaxcter generation screen appears. Could it be something from BG2ImprovedGUI ? Quote

For anything related to the other version, you'd need to ask the people updating. Is it from TotoR? As a first guess I'd say something was done which is no longer compatible with the classic engine, which would be a pity. For the sound. I remembered I had a nearly similar problem once. jastey Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Related to the crash on the belt, what does NI say if you check for text encoding errors? Or if you look at the item with NI? Quote

Look here: http://www.shsforums.net/topic/59581-an-irritating-noise/#entry605572 Thanks. I think I've found the sound - Male005l.wav but NI isnt showing any references to it. I searched with every option ticked and got nothing back. I've not got a clue how that sound would get linked to the UI. I might have to do a very slow re install and test as I go until i find it. But that won't be today. The belt is viewable in NI, description appears fine., I have no idea what's wrong with it. I tried adding the same item from version 0.8 to the override folderr but got the same effect, right clicking to view the description causes a crash to desktop. So maybe it isnt the item itself or I did something wrong with my test. I've checked for string encoding errors, NI found 60 but none relate to JA#BELT1 Trying all the different search options in NI has let to me finding yet another problem. I thought there would be some. I used the CRE inventory checker and got 653 CRE items not in inventory results. For example; File: TARNES.CRE, Name: Tarnesh, Item: SW1H08.ITM (Shortsword +1),Unknown: 00 00 h,Quantity/Charges 1: 0,Quantity/Charges 2: 0,Quantity/Charges 3: 0,Flags: ( No flags set ) File: TARNES.CRE, Name: Tarnesh, Item: RING21.ITM (Ring of Night's Embrace),Unknown: 00 00 h,Quantity/Charges 1: 0,Quantity/Charges 2: 0,Quantity/Charges 3: 0,Flags: ( No flags set ) I'm pretty sure those items are added by BG1NPC project. I've run changelog on TARNES.CRE and it seems he never gets given those items. I checked the changelog files in NI and the file created by BG1NPC\BG1NPC.TP2~ 0 0 // The BG1 NPC Project: Required Modificationsv32 does not appear to have had any items added. I was wondering what had happened to them as they are usually there (on previous installs) because I usually give the ring to Montaron for extra sneaky stabbings. results of CRE inventory check.7z change-log TARNES.CRE.7z Quote
Nathan82 Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 (edited) And the next new fun problem is - Edwin keeps initiating dialogue. Happens every few seconds while nothing else is going on, combat stops it happening temporarily. So I re-installed the stutterdebug tool and found that its this bit (block 15) of EDWIN.BCS IF InParty(Myself) See(Player1) Global("ANEdwinDungeonTalk","GLOBAL",2) THEN RESPONSE #100 DisplayStringHead(Myself,894724) // Running block 15 of EDWIN.BCS StartDialogueNoSet(Player1) END Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? I've attached the file exported from NI and the changelog files. This is being added by 00008: ~HERTHIMONEY\HERTHIMONEY.TP2~ 1 0 // Component 1. Austin Posted October 21 Posted October 21 On 10/19/2024 at 7:54 PM, Nathan82 said: @Austin have you got any idea whats gone wrong? I checked the code and I see that if the variable "ANEdwinDungeonTalk" is set to 2 (this happens when the timer for starting this dialog expires), then a new dialog with Edwin should start, where he asks about the Irenicus dungeon. You did not get this dialog? I do not see any obvious errors in this code fragment so far. The only reason for the bug that comes to my mind right now is that for some reason the necessary dialog from the ANmisc.d file was not compiled into Edwin's dialog file (EDWINJ) in your installation. If this dialog appeared, then for some reason the variable was not changed to 3, although this is provided in the code. To fix the problem, you can enter a console command CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("ANEdwinDungeonTalk","GLOBAL",3) Quote
jastey Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Is it possible that Edwin initiates the wrong dialogue, e.g. his PID from Edwin Romance (didn't check the weidu.log)? @Austin That would mean either, that HERTHIMONEY would need to be installed before that [do not change your install midgame, though], or the "ANEdwinDungeonTalk" dialogue from Edwin needs a WEIGHT #-1 so it can get called eve if it's further down the dlg. Thank you! You are right, this could be the reason if other mods are installed that change Edwin's files. I will add WEIGHT #-1 to this dialog in the next update. Quote
Nathan82 Posted October 21 Author Posted October 21 (edited) Hello, thanks for the fix @Austin. I had just commented out that block as a temporary work around. Restoring the file (I couldnt find the bit I'd commented out to remove the /* */ bits for some reason) and then using the console fixed the problem. This is happening in the Baldur's Gate 1 part of the game. Edwin has been in the party 9 days now but it started sooner. Probably should have mentione d the BG1 bit sooner, sorry. 22 minutes ago, jastey said: e.g. his PID from Edwin Romance I havent got the edwin romance mod installed but the dialogue that keeps appearing is the Player initiated one. Return Address: 0x75373C File: InfScreenInventory.cpp Line: 9909 Expression: bResult Message: (null) I'm getting this error on a few other iteme now, most recent was BELT06, which is a giant strength belt that gets changed to the girdle of beautification. So I have started a re-install and its either Item Revisions or Item Revisions Revised thats causing the problem. While the belt is still the original one it works fine. Once change to the girdle right clicking, whether identified or not, causes a crash to desktop. I've currently got IRR installed (I have just tried CrevsDaak's EE effect remover but its still happening). I'll try uninstalling IRR and re installing IR to try and narrow it down I've but still not got any idea why its happening. Still not found the cause of the weird noise or checked if Edwin is being weird yet either, but will get to them @Austin there's what I think is a typo in 7XMONTJ.d at line 1289, which stops the xar and monty component installing. IF ~~ THEN BEGIN MontyAR0300-Talknext1Woman SAY @3370 IF ~~ THEN EXIT END I changed it to 337 like the block above it and it installed fine. Quote
Nathan82 Posted November 27 Author Posted November 27 It's Item Revisions Revised thats causing the problem. Just uninstalled IRR and then installed ItemRevisions-4b10sd19, started a new game and used the console to add the belt and right clicking on it now works. Anyone got any ideas? Just realised i didnt export the IRR version. I'll reinstall it and attach both, if thats any help to anyone figuring out whats wrong Thanks Quote
