Holden Posted October 18 Posted October 18 So I've run into a problem after beating Sarevok and returning to Ducal Palace. Duke Belt showed me my quarters and the celebration cutscene ran fine, but after I return downstairs to speak to him and transition to SOD, the dialog window says "Belt has nothing to say to you." Also, when I see Imoen on the third floor, she doesn't trigger her normal dialog. Instead, I get the dialog options that would occur when you converse with her in the party using the BG1 NPC Project. Don't know if this is relevant, but I have Transitions installed but haven't installed EndlessBG1's component 14 that conflicts with this. Weidu's attached. Any help would be appreciated! jastey Posted October 19 Posted October 19 If you have Transitions installed, then transition to SoD is not done via Duke Belt but with the item he gives you. Also, Transition took over Duke Belt's dialogue so this is not a bug from EndlessBG1. It might be a compatibility thing, though. Quote
Holden Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 Do you recall at what specific point Belt gives you the item? I just want to make sure I haven't overlooked it. Not that it matters really...I got the same problem in SOD when leaving Ducal palace for the final time. You have to talk to Corwin to advance the plot and she's giving me the same message that Belt did. Quote
jastey Posted October 19 Posted October 19 He probably should give it to you after defeating Sarevok, so something is wrong in your install. The way Transitions is scripted I do not see EndlessBG1 at fault, though. It still could be a compatibility thing because I continued to develop EndlessBG1 after Lauriel stopped updating Transitions. The item's code is #LAdvGm1.itm, maybe you can transition to SoD if you cheat it in. Quote
Holden Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 (edited) Great idea. I'll give it a shot later thanks! EDIT: It worked like a charm. The only thing that bugged out was that I had Drake and Sirine in my party, which caused the transition to SOD to not play out. I tried ejecting them from my party first and the transition worked fine. I don't get to do Korlasz' s dungeon, but it's a small price to pay. Thank you! Edited October 19 by Holden Quote
Holden Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 I was wondering, however, is there any practical difference between using the item to transition to SOD and simply starting a new game in SOD and importing my old save? Do I lose EET functionality that way? Quote
jastey Posted October 19 Posted October 19 As far as I know, if you import a save, you might lose some variables, e.g. for mod NPCs who were in your party. Other than that I think there is no (quest) mod that starts in BG1 and continues in SoD, and you should import with the items on the PC. .. good question!^^ 2 hours ago, Holden said: The only thing that bugged out was that I had Drake and Sirine in my party, which caused the transition to SOD to not play out. Can you elaborate? I wonder whether this is because of teh way Transitions handles mod NPCs or whether there was another problem. Quote
Holden Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 So when I use the item with Drake and Sirine in my party, all my non-modded NPCs will walk away from the party normally. Then the screen will fade to black for a few moments. Rather than transitioning to SOD however, the screen will just fade in again and I'm still in the same game screen with the modded NPCs only. Nothing changes beyond that. I tried again but kicked out the modded NPCs first. That time it worked normally. I figured Transitions hadn't contemplated modded party members. One thing I haven't tested is whether Korlasz is still in the Flaming Fist dungeon. Not sure if the game got that part properly because I technically haven't done Korlasz's dungeon. Yeah, I was worried about losing variables if I started a new game in SOD. Will stick to your transition suggestion just in case. Quote
Holden Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 I also noted before that Corwin won't speak to me to transition out of Ducal Palace. This only happened if I spoke to her father and daughter first. If I spoke to Corwin first, I can choose to leave right away and the sequence runs normally. Quote
jastey Posted October 20 Posted October 20 I'm confused; I'm not aware her father and daughter are present before the good bye scene in front of the Ducal Palace. Or do you mean the march towards the crusade? "Out of Ducal Palace" sounds like in the prologue, when she leads the PC around in the crowded city where she talks to the PC again before they leave the palace after the assassin attack. In case it's the march against the crusade. I don't think Transitions changed this dialogue where she says good bye to her daughter and father. Quote
Holden Posted October 20 Author Posted October 20 Sorry, the scene I'm referring to is the scene where you depart the palace and head to the Coalition Camp. There is a throng of people in front of the palace, including Corwin and her family. If I speak to her family first and go through the whole dialog with them, then for some reason Corwin will go silent after and I can't advance the story. If I skip talking to her family and just talk to Corwin directly, then I can choose the option to leave immediately and I am able to advance the story normally. I'm not even sure whether any of the above content is from a mod. It's been so long since I played vanilla I can't tell what's what anymore haha. Anyways, I'm happy to report that the Korlasz scene in the Ducal palace basement played out normally. Looks like we're good to go which I'm extremely grateful for--I'd put a ton of time into BG1 to even get to that point! Quote
jastey Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Fingers crossed! And I don't know whether a mod touches that dialogue. Quote
Holden Posted October 21 Author Posted October 21 Thanks for the help, Jastey. Much appreciated. Quote
Guest Cippalippa78 Posted November 7 Posted November 7 tried to use the wish item from the duke, viconia, jaheira and imoen leave but then, as the transition seem to occur the game crashes. Any idea? If I start fresh SOD importing the characters I have to redo the Korlazsz dungeon... Quote
mickabouille Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I remember something like that but I'm a bit unsure. Wasn't that about putting all your items in a personal chest that did not exist? Or a gift house with a missing area? The exact detail eludes me... Quote
