Sirius Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Hey everyone, I've been trying to get back into installing mods for Baldur's Gate after a few years hiatus and I'm a bit out of luck getting everything to work. I've followed Connelly's guide over on discord for an EET installation and after some trial and error the installation went finally through using Project Infinity. However, unfortunately, when running infinitylauncher.exe the game won't start. I get a console saying this and then it just hangs: I've tryied installing JUST EET and then EEex and then the game launches. So I gues some of my mods / components are incompatible? Can anyone help me out? I'll include my WeiDU.log. Thx! WeiDU.log Quote
globocide Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Check your BG2EE.lua file in the documents folder in a text editor. If I remember correctly I fixed this issue by reverting something there. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Quote

It's created in my test install with only EET and EEex once the game actually launched. Did you have the exact same hang at initializing quests as me? Quote
Sirius Posted November 11 Author Posted November 11 After a lot of trial and error, I got it: "hidden_adventures-anomenplot;Hidden Adventures - Anomen's extended plot" prevents the game from launching with infinity loader. Now I don't know if later components I install will also cause issues, but this is the component that first causes the game to not launch. Quote

Could you please upload a WeiDU.log from a minimal install that has the problem? I can't seem to reproduce it on my end, though maybe I'm setting something up wrong. Quote

So maybe the component is broken? EDIT 2: OK this is getting weird. I've set up multiple trial installations of EET and Hidden Adventures +/- EEex and in some installs the game will launch, but in others it won't. But I have no idea why. I'm doing every install exactly the same. Edited November 14 by Sirius Quote

It has to do with the Project Infiity software which I use to install multiple mods. Take a look at he following WeiDu.log. I have made this install twice. In Version 1, I installed the Hidden Adventures mod with Project Infinity and the game doesn't launch. It stops at "Initializing Quests". In Version 2, I installed Hidden Adventures manually, without Project Infinity and this version works! This behavior is repeatable on my system. // Log of Currently Installed WeiDU Mods // The top of the file is the 'oldest' mod // ~TP2_File~ #language_number #component_number // [Subcomponent Name -> ] Component Name [ : Version] ~EET/EET.TP2~ #6 #0 // EET core (Ressourcen werden importiert): V13.4 ~BUBB_REVERT_PATHFINDING/BUBB_REVERT_PATHFINDING.TP2~ #0 #0 // Bubb's v2.6.6.0+ Pathfinding Revert: 1.1 ~EEEX\EEEX.TP2~ #0 #0 // EEex: v0.10.2.1-alpha ~EEEX\EEEX.TP2~ #0 #2 // Enable effect menu module - LShift-on-hover to view spells affecting creature: v0.10.2.1-alpha ~EEEX\EEEX.TP2~ #0 #3 // Enable empty container module - Highlight empty containers in gray instead of cyan: v0.10.2.1-alpha ~EEEX\EEEX.TP2~ #0 #4 // Enable timer module - Visual indicators for modal actions, contingencies, and spell/item cooldowns: v0.10.2.1-alpha ~EEEX\EEEX.TP2~ #0 #5 // Timer module - Show modal actions (red bar): v0.10.2.1-alpha ~EEEX\EEEX.TP2~ #0 #6 // Timer module - Show contingencies (green bar): v0.10.2.1-alpha ~EEEX\EEEX.TP2~ #0 #7 // Timer module - Show spell/item cooldowns (cyan bar): v0.10.2.1-alpha ~EEEX\EEEX.TP2~ #0 #8 // Enable time step module - Advance 1 game tick on keypress: v0.10.2.1-alpha ~EEEX\EEEX.TP2~ #0 #9 // Enable hotkey module - Edit override/B3Hotkey.lua to create advanced spell hotkeys: v0.10.2.1-alpha ~HIDDENADVENTURE\HIDDENADVENTURE.TP2~ #0 #0 // Erweiterte Handlung um Lady Elgea: Beta_7 ~HIDDENADVENTURE\HIDDENADVENTURE.TP2~ #0 #1 // Erweiterte Anomenhandlung: Beta_7 ~HIDDENADVENTURE\HIDDENADVENTURE.TP2~ #0 #2 // Jerlias Erzladen: Beta_7 ~HIDDENADVENTURE\HIDDENADVENTURE.TP2~ #0 #3 // Elfisches heiliges Wasser im Lathander Tempel: Beta_7 ~HIDDENADVENTURE\HIDDENADVENTURE.TP2~ #0 #4 // Wellenklinge in Schatzkammer: Beta_7 ~HIDDENADVENTURE\HIDDENADVENTURE.TP2~ #0 #5 // Silberdolch in Irenicus Dungeon: Beta_7 ~HIDDENADVENTURE\HIDDENADVENTURE.TP2~ #0 #6 // Barden k nnen in ihrer Feste (5 Kruegen) uebernachten: Beta_7 ~HIDDENADVENTURE\HIDDENADVENTURE.TP2~ #0 #7 // Ein Barde fuer die Bardenfestung: Beta_7 ~HIDDENADVENTURE\HIDDENADVENTURE.TP2~ #0 #8 // Silberschwert gegen Gedankenschinder und Lykanthropen: Beta_7 ~HIDDENADVENTURE\HIDDENADVENTURE.TP2~ #0 #9 // Ein Tunnel fuer Saradush: Beta_7 // Recently Uninstalled: ~HIDDENADVENTURE\HIDDENADVENTURE.TP2~ #0 #10 // Tempel des Mask im Hafenviertel: Beta_7 ~HIDDENADVENTURE\HIDDENADVENTURE.TP2~ #0 #10 // Tempel des Mask im Hafenviertel: Beta_7 Quote
Graion Dilach Posted November 16 Posted November 16 (edited) PI doesn't affect mods, so it's not PI. TBH, I tend to run on the hangup issue at that loading stage in EEex (once in like I dunno every hundred game launches) and I think it's some sort of a renderer startup issue (considering that in most of the cases I trigger the bug via dropping focus of that debug window with an action). And in my cases, closing the window and restarting the game always works. I haven't seen someone constantly running into this though nor could I trigger this intentionally. I've just retried installing only EET and Hidden Adventures with no EEex and clicking on baldur.exe does not start the game (worked before, see my post above). There is something wrong here, and I can't figure out what. Quote
Sirius Posted November 17 Author Posted November 17 @Bubb Turns out Hidden Adventures causes this problem, not EEex. Thx so much for your support and sorry to have troubled you. Quote
