Anomen is not gaining his kits

Recommended Posts

Just reporting a bug....Anomen failed his Test and became CN, but did not become a Berserker. Fixed locally with Shadowkeeper; gave him 2 Berserker Rages. I'm assuming he'll gain a Holy Symbol as well--I'll let you know if he doesn't.

Can you e-mail me your SETUP-NPCKIT.DEBUG file please?

Sorry for update this old thread, but I have some problems. I don't see any change in Anomen. Where is his cleric of Helm kit? And when I took Imoen in Spellhold I havn't seen neither adventure kit nor conjurer (I choose it for her). In Nalia case everything was ok (she got adventure and necromancer). May be I do something wrong? :)

My guess is you installed the EoU romance fixes after the NPC Pack. Try uninstalling and then re-installing. No idea what could be causing the Imoen glitch. Could you post the contents of your WeiDU.log file please?

Hm... I always install EoU last... Ok, I'll post contents of WeiDU.log tomorrow

Yes, that's the problem. Installing it as one of the first mods is a better idea.

One slight problem (which is not necessarily due to NPCkits - it just looks that way) - I had to do a re-install, after the re-install, I noticed that Minsc now has (depending on what mods I install) either a blank class field in his ID screen, or a text phrase from elsewhere in the game. Nalia has the first problem but not the second (yet). It looks like the wrong text tokens are being used - I've tried setting their kits back to 'None' using Shadowkeeper - but this has no effect.

Any ideas?

At a guess I'd say you either:

  • Installed something that overwrites the dialog.tlk after NPCKit (a patch or the Baldurdash text update).
  • Didn't ensure that everything was properly uninstalled before reinstalling. (Open your BG2 folder and delete the override folder & WeiDU.log at the very least.)
  • All of the above.

Well... I uninstalled all my mods and install them again. Anomen gain his kit, but Imoen doesn't. But I got another problem :) Anomen cannot use his plate from NPCtweak... I reinstall this component but nothing change. I know this is not your fault, I just curious :) Moreover, after total reinstall Anomen Plate lost its description. Misfit between two mods, I guess...

Yes-yes, I have the same problem too after all mods reinstall (I pick Nalia and look at her charsheet)

I have found the source of the Imoen problem. It seems clever old BioWare didn't see fit to assign Imoen's script to both her Spellhold creature files. This is fixed locally. A new version of NPCKit will be out sometime next month.

I think MagusWizardo is looking into the Anomen's plate issue.

Garbled stringrefs happen if you have uninstalled/reinstalled mods a lot. There is no really anything I can do to fix it within NPCKit.

Thank you.

I afraid MagusWizardo doesn't support his mod anymore...

Well, the only non-weidu mod I installed was Baldurdash - and that was right after the patch - and I've tried a complete cleanout (delete override and dialogue.tlk etc. and restore from clean backup) - but the problem persists - I've also noticed some other examples of wrong text - ATM the names of the town criers & Aran's bodyguards are not right.

Maybe I'm going to have to re-start :)

Certain strings are stored in the save game (the class title strings you are having problems with for example) so yes a new game would be necessary. Problems with the town criers and Aran's bodyguards I don't quite understand, sounds like everything is fubar.

A possible fix Minsc/Nalia, or any NPC that NPCKit changes, is to select their portrait icon and use the console command:

CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("IKNPCKit","LOCALS",0)

This should force the reapplication of the changes I make. However, it may have other consequences--Nalia may get an extra spell slot, for example.

Well, I think the problem was that as I had re-installed the game - the existing saved games were furbar-ed :D

Mental Note: don't alter game install unless starting a new game

So I restarted, this time I made Imoen an Enchanter/Adventurer - (a bad choice BTW, as the opposition school is evocation and she 'normally' starts knowing primerarily evocation spells, with the result that her list of known spells gets substantially pruned!)

In play, I noticed that all of the 'forbidden' (i.e. evocation) spells that she had 'lost' still have casting icons under her cast spells button - but the spells cannot actually be cast - they don't however, show up in her spell book.

Has anyone else noticed this?

As an aside, examining her in Shadowkeeper shows her as having 1 cleric spell memorisation slot for each level, and having a Priest of Helm kit - I'm guessing these could just be artifacts of how NPCKit functions, and that fact that Shadowkeeper may be getting confused?

Anyway, I started again - this time leaving her as a normal mage - partially because making her an enchanter leads to an interesting continuity glitch in the cutscene at the Promenarde :D

I haven't found a way to remove memorized spells yet, but I have a couple of ideas to try.

Having priest spells is due to a poorly built creature file (by BioWare, not me). It won't cause any problems. I am going to guess the the Priest of Helm thing is actually a Shadowkeeper issue, but I'll check it out anyway.
