Healing and such

There's no real way to do this (the game can force range for the caster, but not really for the target). If you start casting a spell within range, and the target moves, the spell will still be cast (this should be true of any spell).

From what I've experienced, casters can move only after the casting time is done or they will break the spell. Sometimes the spell is finished before the animation is (especially if Robes of Vecna and such are involved), so this could be what you're seeing.

 

It also seems that any kind of serious movement from the target of a healing spell while it's being cast will often make the caster walk to try to catch up and break the spell that way.
