Sorceror stronghold

when you get transported outside, Lavok just dies instead of starting the dialogue where he gives you the stronghold. Also, the solamnic knights don't do their "oh well...I guess we'll go out and do good stuff in this plane since only wizards know how to ask Ribald for a favor" dialogue that they should ordinarily be doing. I guess that means there's a spelling error or something that stops that dialogue from happening. I tried the save game out on an otherwise unmodded install and that still happens. Even if the sorceror doesn't get the stronghold, the solamnic knights should say different stuff the next time you talk to them. I bypassed the problem by overriding Lavok's .dlg file with a multistronghold patch component. The ease of use version didn't bypass this problem. Because it appends instead of overwriting, maybe? Anyway I still have a save to play with and I can restore this to original condition without problems. (I'm not dumb enough not to back stuff up before I overwrite it!) If you need me to try out some other stuff just let me know.

This may have something to do with Sim's Quest pack, since it allows non-mages to send them home.

You should be able to get the stronghold by not bringing Lavok outside. At least that's how I managed to get around that bug.

I take that as a confirmation of the bug. So, the question is whether this is caused by the fixpack or simply not fixed by it. I am also assuming that the bug isn't sorceror specific, but rather applies with all mages. I brought a test party through a fixpack only install to check this out. I'll post the results soon.

 

Edit: Yeah......not like it's a surprise but no wizards can get the stronghold in alpha 5. Unless you kill Lavok yourself.

I ran into this some time back. He destroys his MINHP1 before the transition to Ar0400, and his script issues Kill(Myself) if he doesn't have MINHP1. I don't think the fixpack is causing this (exacerbating, maybe, but not causing).

 

Locally, I think I killed this by just removing the DestroyItem() call made before the transition (he does it at every possible point up to his death, and I don't think it's ever even necessary).

Sure you can get it, as I said, just don't fulfill his wish to see Athkatla a last time. That's not the same as killing him.

Ah, devSin's on to it. When you agree to take Lavok outside, there was a broken DestroyItem("minhp1") trigger in state 58 that we fix. As devSin points out, though, Lavok's script kills him instantly if the item is removed so he dies before the outside dialogue can trigger. As both his outside dialogues already include a DestroyItem("minhp1") before issuing Kill() actions, we should remove rather than fix the broken action here.

 

In soa-d, changed
