Andyr
Has anyone come across this in the past, and if so, are there any particularly good books or websites for familiarising oneself with it? Link to comment
igi
It depends on what you mean by 'IDL' - it's the standard abbreviation for Interface Definition Language (as used by CORBA and COM etc) - is this what you mean? Link to comment
Kulyok
(groan) Man, how I hated that subject at the old Uni... http://synthesis.ipi.ac.ru/synthesis/student/dot/literature - and yeah, these are good books; the one I did peruse, anyway. For web resources in English... damned if I know. Try Sun Microsystems, we've been studying using their documentation for a while. Link to comment

Is this for next year's course or are you mugging up for an interview? I'd suggest that CORBA/IDL is loosing ground to the WUST stack, web services model. Link to comment

Andyr
I need to learn it to use it during my PhD. I am not yet exactly sure what it is, although I know it is used for processing of large amounts of data (which is what I will be doing some of the time). Link to comment
