ronin69hof
When making a kit what file tells the game to automatically put ** in dual wielding at character creation (ie.... character starts out with 2 ** in dual wielding before assigning his points), or how do I do that? thanks ronin Link to comment
Usually Lurking
You can add a .SPL file to the kits CLAB that will set the proficiency points to what ever you want. Just add it as an applied ability at level one. I believe the opcode you want is 233. You can use NI or DLTCEP to create your .SPL file to do this. Please note with this opcode you can only SET the proficiency points you can not add them. I believe that for Rangers the 2 points to start in dual-wielding is hardcoded. ronin69hof
Thank you that was what I was looking for. ronin Link to comment
Idobek
Also please note the these points will not show up on the proficiency selection screen when the character is created (like the ranger's **s do). They will be set after that, so a player could easily waste *s at charater creation by mistake. Link to comment
Usually Lurking
Um...actually they will. At least they did for the BG2 kit I created. Now that you mention it however I do remember that on occasion if you add proficiency points at character creation the additional points did not show up [in game]. This was rare but it did happen. Idobek
Really? There must be something in the spell that determines whether the *s appear in character creation. Everytime I've tried they haven't shown up. As for the second point, this is best avoided (imo) by granting a number of *s equal to the maximum available for the kit., Link to comment
Usually Lurking
@ Idobek - That's odd, based on past experience it should be working for everyone BUT me then. When I did it I put 1 point each in single and 2-weapon styles at level one. If you want I can send you my .SPL file when I get home tonight to see if I did something different. I did think about maxing out one of the weapon styles and dropping the other but it just felt too unbalanced, especially in the beginning. Link to comment
Idobek
If you could send me the spell you used that would be great. When I'll get around to testing it I don't know but eventually it would be nice to know what does work and what doesn't in this case. Link to comment

Usually Lurking
Glad to hear it worked out for you. Just be sure to check the proficiencies once you're in game if you added any while creating your character. Link to comment
ronin69hof
I did that already, worked fine. At char creation he automatically had ** in dual weapon and I added another *. After the cutscene from Jon I checked again and he had *** thanks for the help ronin Link to comment
