Ring of free action and entangle is acting weird

[Question]

First of all i modded it to remove the "protection from opcode, speed bonus" so boots of speed would work with it.

 

Second i added in several more protection from opcodes, stuff like charm, petrification, etc.

 

I did NOT touch entangle.

 

Yet now when i get hit by entangle, and my save fails, i am entangled.......i cannot move, and my character potrait has the entangled icon, but my character does not have the entangled graphic on the screen.....

 

WTH is going on?
