But even with SK, you won't be able to give yourself more proficiencies than you should have for your class or at your level.

 

Very odd, I just used Shadowkeeper to give my 8th level paladin 17 proficiencies (5 each, Axe, 2HSw, MACE, 2 in 2-h wpn)

 

What I did not do was give him proficiency in anything he did not have at least one pip in before, but that works, too.

 

The game engine doesn't give a whit what your existing proficiencies are.

Hmmm. Like I said, I usually take proficiencies away and forget to give back. Maybe it only crashes when you give less than are allowed.

WizWom, did you then play on to see what would happen at level-up?
