Guest ahardi01
I am having trouble installing Amber. It keeps on giving me error messages and then it says that the following files could not be found in the override folder. The files are: n#boy*.wav, n#gir*.wav, n#dem*.wav, n#rat*.wav, n#ymn*.wav, n#gab*.wav, n#lor*.wav, n#amb*.wav, and n#ar*.wav. I did a complete full install of both SOA and TOB. I installed the official TOB Patch and the Baldurdash patch. Other than that I don't have anything else installed. Can you please help? Thanks. Link to comment
Guest Random Guest
I have the same problem- I'm getting a parse error on amber/dialogs/m#npcapp.d, and then it tells me it can't find the majority of the music files as it tries to uninstall itself. Link to comment
Guest ahardi01
That is the exact same error I'm getting. I didn't know if it was something I did wrong or if there is something wrong with install file. Link to comment
Guest ahardi01
I downloaded Amber again except instead of using the main download link I used the Gibberlings Three link and I was able to install the mod fine. I don't know what the problem was but it seems to be fixed now. Link to comment
Darios
I downloaded Amber again except instead of using the main download link I used the Gibberlings Three link and I was able to install the mod fine. I don't know what the problem was but it seems to be fixed now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> EDIT: It seems that the parse error was indeed our mistake that had gotten into the code with some last minute (literally) bugfixes. The version we sent to Cam for G3 was indeed OK. We are uploading the corrected version to the main download site as I'm typing this. How embarrassing. 2nd EDIT: Actually as I managed to get my brain working after my initial puzzlement, I realised that the "missing files" were actually not missing at all, but just an error from the automatic uninstall-after-failure routine of WeiDU, which couldn't find the audio files simply because they had not yet been converted from ogg to wav. So it was all down to the faulty dialog file, which somehow managed to slip into our install package and prevented the install routine from completing. It should all be sorted out now. Sorry once again. Link to comment
berelinde
Sorry, but I just downloaded a couple hours ago, and I'm getting the same messages. I will try again from the G3 mirror and hope for the best. Link to comment

Then we fixed it, uploaded the new version, downloaded it again on another machine, tested it and it installed correctly. Just so that we can figure out what on earth is happening, could you be more specific as to where you downloaded the mod from? Was it Amber's home site or some of the other mirrors? And what time did you download it exactly? As hard as we're trying to make things work, there seems to be some major cosmic power working against us... (and of course all of you people trying to get the mod to work...) Link to comment
Pekka
Same problem here. I've downloaded Amber from all possible locations, but it doesn't help. Good thing I have a fast connection. Hope you can fix this problem ASAP. I'm on vacation now, so I'd really like to give Amber a try. Link to comment

Could you send us your WeiDU debug file so that we could see where you're getting the error. We tested it twice on two different machines yesterday (both the G3 download and the one we uploaded to Amber's home site) and they installed fine both times, so I'm a bit at a loss here. Seeing the WeiDU debug file should point us to the problem, though. Link to comment
Guest Guest_Pekka_*
File sent. Hope it helps. Link to comment
Darios
We have received debug files from three people experiencing this same problem (thanks, everyone), and it would seem that the culprit lies in the compatibility code for the Item Upgrade mod. We are working on identifying the exact problem and fixing it right now, but in practice this means that people with Item Upgrade installed cannot currently install the mod. We are working on a fix and hope to make it available soon. Link to comment
Meira
Actually, if you install Item Upgrade *after* Amber they should work together fine. Link to comment
Darios
Actually, if you install Item Upgrade *after* Amber they should work together fine. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But since that will lose you some Cromwell related content in Amber, I hope that everyone with this problem has the patience to wait for version 1.1., which should be out soon, after I have tested that everything indeed does work right now (well, at least on out setup...). So have patience, the solution is on its way. And just to clarify, the problem we are discussing is a different one from the initial one in Amber's installation (it just happens to manifest in the same file, m#npcapp.d) and only seems to concern those using Weimer's Item Upgrade. berelinde
Thanks. I will wait for the 1.1 release. Your team has worked hard and quickly on this mod. From what I was able to see before it became too unstable to continue (first installation), it really rocked. Link to comment
berelinde
Say, would it help if I posted a list of my installed mods? [EDIT: Sorry, I accidentally edited my answer into your post instead of replying to it and then fixed it, hence it is shown by edited by me.] Link to comment
