happened only for me, or is it normal for the installer to leave some files with the .g3 extension on override?

 

for example cdt00060.g3

 

And do I need to keep these files there? I was going to biff

They are most likely marker files which enable other mods to detect the presence of the associated component.

Those files are there to give other mods a way to detect if a particular component is installed, in case they need to work around it or account for it. AFAIK they shouldn't affect biffing.
