Tanaris
I've always done Durlag's, so far always after escaping Candlekeep. It's true, some areas can get kinda tedious after the first time through, but there's always the opportunity to experiment with different strategies & tactics-- especially against those four riddling dwarfs, where you have time to prepare & room to position. Great fun! I had one of those great odd twists to a fight there one time-- with 3 dwarfs down, & me just one hit away from certain death, Love's chasing me all around the level, right on my heels so I daren't even gulp one measly potion. A batch of zombies has spawned in the corridor I duck into, & I try to run through them, but they block & surround me. I thought I was a goner. Well, Love can't reach me with his short sword, & the hapless low-level undead aren't landing any hits, so I just sit there among them & guzzle about 11 healing potions-- -- until Love decides to throw a skull trap at point-blank range. Brilliant! Toasted my zombie pals, but he was a piece of cake after that. I was in cahoots, though-- enemies shielding me from other enemies? Sure, I'll take it! (Since then, I've found it can be quite useful in a clinch-- keeping the umber hulks between you & the mind flayers, e.g.) But I ramble... Anyhow, yeah; about level 7 or 8, I guess. Say 8, since half the party'll level up there anyway. --Which is why I'll keep going back Link to comment
