Guest plainab
I'd love to download and give this puppy a try. However, it's too big. I don't have internet access at home and must use the computers at the library. I'm thus limited to files that can fit on a single floppy. Is there anyway that the fixpack could be made smaller? Possiblities are: 1. Rezip the package into floppy sized segements (1.44 mb) 2. Break the fixpack apart: One install for Core One install for maybe core (beta) One install for cool fixes Otherwise, some of us will just keep playing the game with bugs. Link to comment
Aragorn II
Dude, go out and buy yourself a flash drive. Link to comment
devSin
Maybe we could do a version without the GTU for you? That might be small enough to fit on a floppy. Cam? Link to comment

Heh, another attempt to remove the GTU. In all seriousness, outside of the tp2 itself the GTU strings are the largest component. Even after removing it, though, it only shaves off about 700 kb from the package. I don't think it'll be too hard to split it into floppy-sized chunks. Link to comment
NiGHTMARE
Surely the computers at your library have WinZip or something similar installed on them? If so, you could actually re-zip the thing yourself . Link to comment
devSin
OS X or Windows?Macs haven't had floppy drives since what, 1997? Windows. Heh, another attempt to remove the GTU.I'll never give up. Link to comment

devSin
If it's a public library, don't underestimate the odds of it using Microsoft technology. No wonder nobody goes to the library anymore... Link to comment
CamDawg
Heh, touche. What was the topic again? Link to comment
Azazello
Is this a joke? Do they even make floppies anymore? No public library in this country is gonna lock down their USB ports so that you cannot attach a flash drive. Dude/-tte, USB flash drive. Can get one even at drugstores. Link to comment
Aragorn II
Thank you for backing me up, Azazello! Link to comment

The RAR format has the possibility to split files into arbitrary-sized chunks. Of course, I don't know if the OP has access to a RAR unpacking program. Otherwise, you can use uuencode and head/tail to manually split any file into suitably-sized chunks Link to comment
Guest plainab
I didn't think one little post would make such a big stink. Guess I was wrong. Boy this is a tough crowd..... You're right, I COULD go out and buy a flash drive. I would love to. However, you try explaining to my wife, why I NEED to buy some piece of computer tech, when we can barely pay the BILLS. I'll stick with my originial request. I'll gladly take it repacked into floppy sized RAR files. I have no clue what the library computers have as far as zipping utilities so I am unsure as to whether or not I could rezip it to the correct size myself. Thanks for your quick responses and varied thoughts. Link to comment
CamDawg
Heh, don't mind the free-for-all. Again, though, do you need the Windows or OS X version? Link to comment
