Guest Ecoris
If a ranger/cleric follows an evil path in hell he becomes a fallen ranger. Fair enough. But he also loses his clerical abilities; all spell casting and even the ability to turn undead. Now that's unfair. Clearly it's not supposed to be like that? Link to comment
CamDawg
Definitely not. Unfortunately many aspects of falling rangers/paladins are hardcoded so we may not be able to fix it. I'll take a look. Link to comment
Nythrun
You could salvage the Turn Undead without too much difficulty, by the "fallen" penalty spell disables priest spellcasting and there isn't a "disable ranger spellcasting" effect. Note: right now you can work around this by casting spells from the quickbar buttons; these aren't disabled by falling (this should be probably be fixed, but it's something I never got around to doing). Guest Ecoris
I let him take the good path in the end, so it's not a problem, I just wanted to point it out. Can't remeber whether or not the quickspell icon and the spell books were disabled. Link to comment
CamDawg
Yeah, this really can't be fixed. I'll add it to the 'unfixable' docs. Link to comment
SimDing0
Ranger/clerics do not usually fall. The fix should be to prevent the script calling for them to do so. Link to comment
CamDawg
I can kinda see an argument for a ranger>cleric dual-class not falling, but a cleric>ranger dual-class or a multi-class is not exempt from the ranger ethos. It's dumb that the engine can't enforce this without fubar'ing clerical abilities but I don't think exempting all ranger-clerics from falling is better than the current issue. Link to comment
devSin
I thought he said that ranger multi-class characters don't actually fall automatically; they're falling in this case because we catch them in the RANGER_ALL net? Link to comment
CamDawg
* lightbulb turns on Ah, got it: ranger-clerics don't fall from low rep; ergo they shouldn't fall from the Hell trials, yes? That does make sense. The check for RANGER_ALL is originally from Bioware in ar2904.bcs--not that I'm disinclined to change it, just that it's worth noting. Link to comment
devSin
All the cleric/ranger hate makes me wonder if they had intended to drop the class combo at some point. But yeah, if it forces the fall where they normally wouldn't and doesn't even work correctly, then it's just a fat bug that Baldurdash propagated to every level in Hell. It's not the fixpack's fault! Assuming that cleric/rangers don't actually fall (that's how I read SimSpeak, but I've never actually... played a ranger). Link to comment
