Installation Problem

I'm having problems with the Tweak install with TOB.

The exec creates a folder named 'BG2_Tweaks' but a setup exec named

'SETUP-~8.exe' in my SOA folder. When I double-click on this exe, it fails saying 'bad command line'.

My hardware:

Gateway500, 128MB RAM and Win98SE

My installations: [in order installed]

SOA + official patch

TOB + official patch

G3 Fixpack

Various IAP's [items, armor & weapons]

Weidu Mods

Abystore, Bagbonus, Herbs, DOQuestpack, Improved Anvil,

Planar Teleport, Ribald's Genie

And then, BG2_Tweaks-v3.exe; which creates setup-~8.exe

The SETUP-~8.DEBUG :

The only other time I've used the G3 tweakpack is with SOA[ no TOB] with Ribald's Genie, Herbs, Planar Teleport & improved Anvil. I've not used Abystore, Bagbonus, & DOQuestpack before.

I've checked through searches for similar installation probs in the forum, but came up with naught. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have no idea why Windows 98 has decided to truncate your file names to 8 characters, but it's a problem. Are all of the files truncated, or just the exe file? If it's just the exe file, you should be able to rename it Setup-BG2_Tweaks.exe and then run it normally. If it's truncated other files, you've go a lot of renaming to do.

What did you use to extract it? Did you double-click the package or use another program?

^ That's a common problem (at least with my version of Win98). As far as I can see it's not the installer/unpacker that causes the truncation but the WeiDU self-updating to latest version thingamejig (or the way it is instructed to do so in the installation .BAT).

Thanks for letting me know its not only me!

The exec created the filename setp-~8 and it was the eighth weidu installed.

Does that help the diagnosis?

I double-clicked on the downloaded exec, downloaded that day. And ....

Once again you've helped me out, many thanks. A simple renaming of the setup exec to 'Setup-BG2_Tweaks.exe' did the trick; I just didn't know the exact file name to rename it to, it's up and running now.

Thanks again
