Problem with PS:T

Ok, maybe I am the most stupid person on this planet, but I can't solve my problem with GemRB and PST.

System: Win32

I installed PST (original 4 CD version) and the patch.

I installed Python 2.3

I installed GemRB. (2.8 for Win32)

I configured GemRB (the PST cfg) and corrected the paths.

I fire up GemRB and I am able to create a charakter, but as soon as the game enters an area PST shuts down.

The GemRB window says: "Cannot find AR0202.cbf"

I know that AR0202 is the start area and that ".cbf" files are compressed ".bif" files, but AFAIK only the 2 disc version of PS:T featured those. Shouldn't the game come looking for AR0202.bif which is actually present, instead of AR0202.cbf which is not?

What can I do?

BTW: Great project!

The game is supposed to look for both files.

The problem is most likely that the paths are not set correctly in the .cfg

Since you mention that you did set the paths, please post the log appearing on the console.

At least the last screenful of text.

BTW: I copied the CD2 to my HD.

This is the "Paths" section of my .cfg file

Something is odd for sure but i don't know what is this.

I don't know what would write this:

[scriptable]: No current area

It seems like ar0202 couldn't be decompressed correctly.

Can you play the original game?

Yes, I can. Everything is fine. I tried two different installs - the german and the american version, but to no avail.

Maybe I shouldn't use the 1.1 patch???

erm, I mean I can't use GemRB with both versions but every version works fine on its own.

Okay, I tried that also. No patch, no fixpack whatsover. I also imported other savegames from different areas.

Problem remains the same "Cannot find AR?;).cbf".

Strange.

Just a thought:

Have you tried replacing

CD2:=d:\games\Torment\CD2\

with

CD2:=F:\CD2\

?

Yep, does not help.

Thanks anyway.

Maybe you should try clearing the PS:T cache folder.

If he should clear something, it is the gemrb cache, as gemrb doesn't use the pst cache.

But i don't think this is a problem, gemrb would clear the cache anyway.

Did that everytime I tried. Did not help.

My current Installation is as follows

4-Disc Version (engl.)

Patch 1.1

Fix-Pack

Restoration Pack

GemRB 0.28 for Win32

PS:T alone works like a Charm. GemRB exits with the same error as mentioned above "cannot find AR?:).cbf" (required area.cbf) "abnormal program termination"

Man, I'm screwed :D
