install problems with EasyTutu

I got the Forgotten Realms Deluxe Edition and am trying to roll myself a better Baldur's Gate at the moment. My install order has been this:

 

Baldur's Gate I, custom, every checkbox selected

Tales of the Sword Coast

BG1 international patch (bgintl114315.exe)

BG1 international DX8 patch (BG1DX8Intl.exe)

TotSC international patch (BGTalesIntl5512.exe)

TotSC ineternational DX8 patch (BGTalesDX8Intl.exe)

 

BG2 SoA Full install

BG2 ToB Full install

BG2 English patch (BGII-ThroneofBhaal_Patch_26498_ENGLISH.exe)

 

EasyTutu, space saver mode, BG1 was uninstalled (EasyTutu_ToB.exe)

EasyTutu degreenifier (EasyTutuDegreenifier-v4.exe)

Tutufix (Tutufix_v17.exe) speed, stacks, summoning fixes, not sure about the others

 

Next I try to install the BG1NPC pack (BG1NPC-v12Beta3.exe), but when I try to install I get some errors during the section that tries to match NPC + creature walking speed with the improved walking speed from Tutufix. I have a 670k DEBUG file now which wants to be mailed to the devs. How do I go about doing that? The URL provided is for this forum.

Please accept my apologies... I was trying to patch a non-existent 0 byte file in Beta 3. To fix this, please follow the instructions below (or register, and PM me, and I will send you a link to the latest working internal version).

 

 

Just to make sure, did you install TutuFix's "Walking Speeds component? If you did not, then uninstall the Project, and then reinstall it, and this time do not install the "check for Walking Speeds" component at all. I do not yet have a good way of checking to see if someone needs it, so we just ask - I am working on making it so it only shows up if you need it.

 

If you did use the TutuFix Walking Speeds, then try the following:

  1. Uninstall the entire BG1 NPC Project, for safety's sake.
  2. Browse to your BaldursGateTutu directory, and find the file named BG1NPC.TP2
  3. Copy the file, backing it up and renaming it BG1NPC.BAK
  4. Open the file using NOTEPAD - *NOT* MICROSOFT WORD!!!!
  5. Scroll down to the section marked /* Detect Walking Speeds install */
  6. Replace that section, all the way down to the next section (marked /* Player-Initiated Dialogues -always keep the VERY last of BG1NPC to compile! */ ) with the following (you can copy/paste):

yep... but some folks do. I do, occasionally, because I love the speed reset, and I don't go through Tutu with heavy reliance on polymorph, haste, or slow. The few slimes that are faster than blazes if I cast "slow" non them by accident I don't worry about - I just roleplay that they have learned how to spit farther, and beat 'em anyways :)

I thought that I tried to install the walking speed fixes from TuTuFix. But, everyone still moseys around like they're on a field day from the old folks home so I'm not sure it took. Are the recommendations to not install it based on problems like this? Is there another way to hustle people along a bit? I'll hold off on trying your fix until I understand the problem with TuTuFix.

 

And apologies graciously excepted cmorgan. I'm wowed by what the whole BG community has achieved! It's amazing improvements are still being made to an 8 year old game. So, I think a few bumps here and there don't detract from an amazing project. (But I'm used to Open Source Software, where this stuff is kind of routine.)

The Walking Speeds component *slows down* your folks, so they are closer to original slower BG1 speeds...

 

sounds like you need to go back and uninstall the Walking Speeds component, and then work forward from there :)
