December 25, 2010: Widescreen Mod Updates to v3.00

The Widescreen Mod allows Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter and Icewind Dale II to be played at previously unsupported resolutions, like those of widescreen monitors. On SoA, ToB, and TotLM installations, v3.00 supports resolutions as small as 640x480 (if using GemRB). Without GemRB, the best you can get is 642x482 and higher. Allows players to keep 'save' and 'game' resolutions separate on TotSC and PST, so that you can switch between resolutions seamlessly if you set it up beforehand. Also enables save game updating on TotSC and PST. Will clear the explored bitmask (still less destructive than being 100% incompatible). Upgrade is not necessary unless you wished to play a smaller resolution than previously allowed in SoA, ToB or TotLM, or are interested in playing the same save game at two different resolutions on TotSC and PST. Upgrade is save-safe, as long as you acknowledge that all areas will become unexplored in TotSC and PST if changing resolution (unless you use the new 'support for multiple resolutions' mechanism). Available for Windows and Linux, you can get it from the downloads page, browse the English Readme | French Readme | Spanish Readme or project page, or join us on the forum.

November 28, 2010: Nythrun's Level 1 NPCs Version 1.5 Released

Nythrun's mod derives from Gebhart Blucher's Alternate BG2 NPCs (lvl1npcs.zip). Her massive opus of "allow player choice" allows you to start any of the joinable NPCs from BG and BG2 as level one characters with excess experience points. When they join your party, you can level them up and choose their skills. Level 1 NPCs expands on Blucher's original concept by allowing players to assign any previously installed kit/class - default or customized - onto any default (and many mod-added joinable) NPCs from both BG1 and BG2 games. The mod also allows players to change the NPC's skills and weapon proficiencies, individually tweak stats, and much, much more... Khalid the Fighter/Painbearer of Ilmater, Mazzy the Paladin, Jaheira the Kensai, and Valygar the Wizard Slayer are just a few examples. Available for Windows, OS X, and Linux, version 1.5 ("Geomantic Sorcerers are not Druids") repairs some minor typos on non-English language versions, allows Sorcerers to get the Geomantic kit again, and allows install on Tutu. The complete readme is also available, you can visit the forum, or you can grab the mod from the downloads page.

November 13, 2010: Icewind Dale II Tweak Pack Update

The Icewind Dale II Tweak Pack is a collection of tweaks that have been assembled for Icewind Dale II. March 14, 2010: BG2 Fixpack Version 9 Released

The BG2 Fixpack is a WeiDU compilation of fixes for Baldur's Gate II. With the disappearance of Kevin Dorner and the cessation of activity of the Baldurdash fixpack for BG2, several modders form many modding communities began working on a new WeiDU fixpack to address the numerous bugs that have been identified since Baldurdash. This collaborative effort, including the work of modders from several different modding communities, has resulted in a fixpack that currently includes all of the fixes addressed by Baldurdash (including the Game Text Update) and several hundred new bugfixes. Version 9 includes Russian and Japanese translations, updates to the German and Italian translations, a number of revisions to BETA fixes and core components, and a new subcomponent of the Game Text Update by Wisp. The GTU can now be installed in two ways. The first (and recommended) option will install "GTU Light" (by Wisp), a fairly minimalistic dialogue update which contains only the most relevant typographical corrections. The second option will install "GTU Classic" (from Baldurdash, by Kevin Dorner), an in-depth dialogue revision, parts of which may be considered arbitrary by purists. The Fixpack is available from the downloads page or you can browse the readme. You can learn more about the mod (including documentation of the bugs fixed) from the project page. Feedback is strongly encouraged; please join us on the Fixpack forums.

February 22, 2010: Version 13 of Sword Coast Stratagems II Released

Sword Coast Stratagems II is a collection of mini-mods for Baldur's Gate II, affecting both Shadows of Amn and the Throne of Bhaal extension. Like its Tutu predecessor, SCS II is mostly a tactics mod, intended to make the combats in the game more challenging and interesting. Overall, playing SCS II shouldn't exactly feel like a whole new game - it should feel like the old game, but with your foes acting much more intelligently and realistically. Version 13 of SCS II fixes a number of bugs and compatibility problems, optimises existing components, and adds a small amount of new content. Grab it direct from the downloads page. You can also visit the extensive project pages, readme, or SCS II forum for more information.

February 22, 2010: Version 14 of Sword Coast Stratagems Released

Version 14 of Sword Coast Stratagems has been released. SCS is primarily a tactical mod for Tutu and Baldur's Gate Trilogy. The idea is to make the game rather more tactically challenging, rather than just making it harder by brute-force methods like tripling all the damage rolls. It also contains a few rule tweaks and ease-of-use features. v14 fixes all currently-known bugs in previous versions and optimises a few tactical features. Get it directly from the downloads page. You can also visit the project pages, readme, or SCS forum for more information.

January 23, 2010: Widescreen Mod v2.31 Update

The Widescreen Mod allows Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter and Icewind Dale II to be played at previously unsupported resolutions, like those of widescreen monitors. For v2.31, the bigg fixed a bug that prevented uninstalling, and repaired an issue in PST/BG1 that sometimes caused artifacts on areas (notably Mebbeth's house at 800x600). On BG1 and PST, upgrade is *not* compatible with save games created with Widescreen 2.30 or earlier (or created without Widescreen). Players of BG1 and PST who do not have save games they are interested in are recommended to upgrade. Players of any game who have troubles uninstalling Widescreen 2.30 can simply extract the Widescreen 2.31 archive to fix the problem. Available for Windows and Linux, you can get it from the downloads page, browse the English Readme | French Readme | Spanish Readme or project page, or join us on the forum.

The changelog for v2.3 includes: Fixed doors not turning up in their open status in PST/BG1, French and Spanish translation, and a GemRB version. To upgrade is completely safe and recommended for PST, BG1 and GemRB.
