This version added French translation by Sanctifer (of the d'Oghmatiques), and updated to WeiDU v231. The mod can be downloaded directly from the download center.

December 3rd, 2011: Sword Coast Stratagems updated to version 20

Sword Coast Stratagems is primarily a tactical mod for Tutu and the Baldur's Gate I part of Baldur's Gate Trilogy. It also contains a few rule tweaks and ease-of-use features. Version 20 is a maintenance update, with now new content but a few minor tweaks and a number of bugfixes. Grab it direct here. You can also visit the extensive project pages, readme, or SCS forum for more information.

You can also visit the extensive project pages, readme, or SCS II forum for more information.

April 15, 2011: BG1Tweaks Moves to v3

Baldur's Gate, the original, is still played by some diehard fans among us. BG1Tweaks, by grogerson, reworks and converts sections of The BG2 Tweak Pack and several other sources to work on Baldur's Gate games. A WeiDU compilation of fixes, cosmetic changes, and tweaks, grogerson comments that "Some of these were fan requests, others are needed fixes, and others simply make dealing with the more irritating aspects of the game engine easier. Each component can be installed separately so the player can pick and choose only which ones they wish to install." Version 3 ships in packages for Windows and Linux (Baldur's Gate is unsupported on OS X). You can learn more on the project page or readme, or you can participate in the Tweak Packs forum. March 25, 2011: Nythrun's Level 1 NPCs Version 1.7 Released

Nythrun's mod derives from Gebhart Blucher's Alternate BG2 NPCs (lvl1npcs.zip). Her massive opus of "allow player choice" allows you to start any of the joinable NPCs from BG and BG2 as level one characters with excess experience points. When they join your party, you can level them up and choose their skills. Level 1 NPCs expands on Blucher's original concept by allowing players to assign any previously installed kit/class - default or customized - onto any default (and many mod-added joinable) NPCs from both BG1 and BG2 games. The mod also allows players to change the NPC's skills and weapon proficiencies, individually tweak stats, and much, much more... Khalid the Fighter/Painbearer of Ilmater, Mazzy the Paladin, Jaheira the Kensai, and Valygar the Wizard Slayer are just a few examples. Available for Windows, OS X, and Linux, Version 1.7 "More Orcish Bugfixing" by Miloch) includes a number of bugfixes and under-the-hood improvements, and adds a new rejoining subcomponent for "Joinable NPCs more closely match the PC's experience". The full changelog can be found in the complete readme. You can also visit the forum, or you can grab the mod from the downloads page.

February 6, 2011: New Mod, the Icewind Dale Fixpack, Now Available

The Icewind Dale Fixpack is designed to fix several bugs and errors that remain in the game after the official patches have been applied. It works on with or without the expansions Heart of Winter and Trials of the Luremaster installed. In fact, many issues quietly fixed by Heart of Winter or Trials of the Luremaster have been rolled back to every version of the game. This originally started as a component of the IWD Tweak Pack, but was broken out in to its own mod because 1) it's gotten fairly extensive on its own and 2) it should be installed right after the official patches whereas the tweaks should be last installed. You can learn more about the mod via its readme or its extensive documentation, download it from the downloads page, or discuss the mod on its forum.

February 6, 2011: Icewind Dale Tweaks v12 Now Available

This is a collection of tweaks that have been assembled for Icewind Dale. They were almost all made for BG2 by Idobek and CamDawg, and cannibalized by Andyr to work for Icewind Dale. It is a compilation of fixes, cosmetic changes, and tweaks. Some of these were fan requests, others are needed fixes, and others simply make dealing with the more irritating aspects of the game engine easier. Each component can be installed separately so the player can pick and choose only which ones they wish to install. The major update for v12 is splitting the fixes in to their own mod and just general modernizing of the code. You can learn more about the mod via its readme or project page, download it from the downloads page, or discuss the mod on its forum.

January 29, 2011: Icewind Dale II Tweaks v2.2 Now Available

The Icewind Dale II Tweak Pack is a collection of tweaks that have been assembled for Icewind Dale II. Version 2.2 adds a new Russian translation. The tweaks were almost all made for BG2 by Idobek and CamDawg, and cannibalized by Andyr to work for Icewind Dale, and cannibalizated again by The Bigg to work for IWD2. It is a compilation of fixes, cosmetic changes, and tweaks. Some of these were fan requests, others are needed fixes, and others simply make dealing with the more irritating aspects of the game engine easier. Each component can be installed separately so the player can pick and choose only which ones they wish to install. The complete readme is available, or grab the mod from the downloads page.

January 29, 2011: Widescreen Mod Updates to v3.04

The Widescreen Mod allows Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter and Icewind Dale II to be played at previously unsupported resolutions, like those of widescreen monitors. Available for Windows and Linux, you can get it from the downloads page, browse the English Readme | French Readme | Spanish Readme or project page, or join us on the forum.

January 22, 2011: Widescreen Mod Updates to v3.03

The Widescreen Mod allows Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter and Icewind Dale II to be played at previously unsupported resolutions, like those of widescreen monitors. On SoA, ToB, and TotLM installations, v3.00 supports resolutions as small as 640x480 (if using GemRB). Without GemRB, the best you can get is 642x482 and higher. Allows players to keep 'save' and 'game' resolutions separate on TotSC and PST, so that you can switch between resolutions seamlessly if you set it up beforehand. Also enables save game updating on TotSC and PST. Will clear the explored bitmask (still less destructive than being 100% incompatible). Upgrade is not necessary unless you wished to play a smaller resolution than previously allowed in SoA, ToB or TotLM, or are interested in playing the same save game at two different resolutions on TotSC and PST. Upgrade is save-safe, as long as you acknowledge that all areas will become unexplored in TotSC and PST if changing resolution (unless you use the new 'support for multiple resolutions' mechanism). Available for Windows and Linux, you can get it from the downloads page, browse the English Readme | French Readme | Spanish Readme or project page, or join us on the forum.

January 16, 2011: Item Upgrade for Icewind Dale v3 Available

The Item Upgrade for Icewind Dale mod is a modest collection of upgrades for various items throughout the game. Reading through the item descriptions, the developers really took a lot of time to give many items an elaborate backstory. In many cases, I felt that an upgrade was a chance to tell a bit more of the story. Version 3 fixes numerous long-standing bugs and should also work on Icewind Dale in Baldur's Gate v5 beta. Available for Windows, OS X, and Linux, you can get it from the downloads page, browse the readme or project page, or join us on the forum.

January 9, 2011: Alternatives, v10 Now Available

Alternatives offers new choices when making some of the more uncomfortable decisions in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. Version 10 adds a Russian translation by Austin, Ardanis, Aldark and Acranecoast.ru, fixes a bug where a Chapter 2 cutscene could run in Chapter 6, and removes an illogical item from Vellhon's store. Available for Windows, OS X, and Linux, you can get it from the downloads page, browse the Readme or project page, or join us on the forum.
