  1. Nope, I am looking further back in history. Beginning of 19th century and connected with a bunch of very talented young people being gathered together under one roof, among them those who went on to become the greatest bards of their times - I see a certain... similarity Testing involves playing something that have not been played yet and reporting bugs and glitches as you go
  2. And thank you for your enthusiasm and patience. The principle coding is now complete. No major additions will be made. From now on, we will test and fix, fix and test. The new content added since the last progress report was: - Two new romantic interludes for Xan - A pack of NPC initiated flirts for Shar-Teel - A pack of NPC initiated flirts for Coran - A full flirt-pack (PC and NPC initiated) for Branwen - Additional PIDs for Branwen. - Delainy reactions for Branwen and Shar-Teel - ‘Chose your man’ dialogues for Xan-Coran and Xan-Ajantis. - Romance restoration player initiated option if other romance is disabled for Branwen and Dynaheir I know, that it will cause some disappointment that a few of the quests were left out from the Phase III scope, but it just proved too much of the workload for now. We will decide what to do with them after Phase III is released. A number of fun NPC quests did make it into the Phase III. 19 October 2005 is a tentative release date for Phase III (a cookie to a person who knows the significance of the date). If things work smoothly, it could be earlier, if we run into serious troubles, I would let you all know how much longer it will take to troubleshoot and fix. Let us hope that the next report will be ‘BG1NPC had gone gold’. Huh, back to the grindstone now. PS: Need help testing
  3. Well, we had been working very hard The full Ajantis Romance, is ready for group's alpha-testing The core Branwen's Romance is ready for alpha-testing. Xan's Romance had had a lot of additions to its flirtpacks and is very close to beta Added 'romance-fixing' options for female PC romances, if the romance was authomatically terminated by another NPC's romance becoming committed (after you have broken up of course with all other suitors) Alll additional PIDs that were submitted up to date were incorporated and are being alpha-tested If anyone is interested in taking a sneak peek, while helping us out, you are very welcome to join our testing efforts If it goes like that (and I keep my fingers crossed, while looking at the light in the end of the tunnel!) by the end of the month I'd be able to forecast the target release date.
  4. Gah, I think we did not. I guess we'll have to suffer through another dinner. Iron Modder 9 night out?
  5. And here are two of the non-British modders or Ice meets Domi in May 2005, while she is traveling through the beautiful country of US.
  6. Thanks to Cam there is a possibility now to have a screenshot gallery. I have started populating one for BG1NPC. Please, let me know if you are interested in screenshots for specific components The gallery is located here: BG1NPC Screenshot Gallery
  7. Xan's Romance is ready to be alpha-tested. If anyone is interested in taking a sneak peek on it or any other material we are working on, while helping us out, you are very welcome to join our testing efforts
  8. Cam is helping us with the sound 'overlay or not pause' problem - hopefully to be resolved in the upcoming V10. Kulyok made an excellent head-start on Branwen's romance Jastey is working away on putting finishing touches on the Ajantis romance Jaheira's Quest finally seems to work without glitches - yay! but Coran's is still glitching Dynaheir's romance entered the beta testing stage with me finally resolving (?) the problems with te concluding cutscene. New additional PID options were written for the majority of the NPCs and I just started coding Xan's romance - it is hopeless of course, but I will foolhardily try not to be defeated by the overwhelming foes.
  9. Name: Valygar Corthala SoA Script: VALYGAR.BCS ToB Script: VALY25.BCS Romance is serious number: 2 Romance kill number: 3 For female?: 1 For male?: 0 Can kill other romances?: Only if Global("H#ValygarLover","GLOBAL",1) in addition to RA=2 Can be killed by other romances?: Yes Romance Variable: H#ValygarRomanceActive Added
  10. And now back to the good news: Kulyok had stepped in and started the principle writing on the new Branwen's Romance for BG1NPC. Three cheers and brightly woven.
  11. Shar-Teel's is as large as Branwen's If a writer comes in with good knowledge of the project and brings in a pretty much ready to code romance which the Czar/ina/Guardian likes, the way Kulyok did with Xan, I would gladly rectify the inequality and code it up. But if that does not happen...
  12. Jolyth's version of Branwen's romance has been dropped at the writer's request. As I have coded and we group-tested the whole thing already, and I do not like people's honest work wasted, I have realeased the ready version to Jolyth' custody to do as she pleases with it and release at her convenience with any modding group. I hope she does and I hope that the TUTU players will have access to it though not via BG1NPC.
  13. -the final draft of Xan's Romance (including the flirtpacks) from Kulyok is on the 'ready to be coded pile'. Great job! I am especially greatful for Kulyok's efforts to integrate the earlier existing content into the romance. -I have volounteers to help me out with coding of Dynaheir's and Imoen's Quests at least partially. -and we are testing - with great thanks to Theodur, Kulyok and Culain for giving it a run (or ten).
  14. It is not spelled out per se, Valygar says that Magdelen (spelling?) 'turned into a powerful undead'/'joined my father in the undeath'. It is usually concluded that she turned into a lich.
  15. I'd say that he dares not to hate his mother so he tries to destroy *magical constructs* attempting to save the souless 'victims' of the mages (the same way he killed his father (who was made into a zombie)); Lavok is also a lich though, so it is concievable that in the anticipation of his return and confrontation Valygar studied the liches and their techniques, thus making them into his 'preferred prey' or 'racial enemy'. Hence, I see both as justified.
  16. A good one for Z.Freud: So, Valygar Corthala, your racial enemy is your mother's latest incarnation on the Material Plane? And you have killed her? And your father whom she turned into a zombie? Uh-huh... Do you see a peculiar if faint connection? Do you hate her or not? I think he does not hate her though, I think it is rather an open quarel that never get resolved.
  17. Valygar has a fair amount of 'rangering' background in the game: he has a cabin in the iwlderness and it is there where he is hiding (as opposite to staying in the city). He is definetly well-aquainted with the local rangering populuce, since they protect him as one of their own. Stalker kit also gives a leeway there, saying that rangers of that kit are well accustomed in the cities. In a conversation with Mazzy Valygar speaks rather wistfully about stealth skills. His scouting background was already previously mentioned. If he wants to travel anywhere, it is Neverwinter as opposiute to Waterdeep as he mentions to Mazzy (ie wilder region vs civilized region). He speaks of his father as of a man with a merry laughter and love of the wilderness - and who but a ranger or druid would put this into a convo about his dear dead father? He is also quite terrified by his parents turning undead - a non-direct pointer on the 'nature' connection. But what background there is to make him a Kensai? As far as we know he had never traveled East or anywhere beside Amn for that matter. Even his katana is not *his* per se - it is a hereditary blade that could have been aquired as a curio by one of his mage-anscestors who played around with enchanting it. His hatred of magic gives a reasonable grounds to make him into a Wizard Slayer imo, but a master of the sword that spends his whole life perfecting his swordplay? He seems to be too guarded of a character for that. Plus he comes from a traditional noble family; if he would have gotten any training at all in sword play in his youth it would have been traditional style, ie heavy armor; and his military training would be all about sneaking around, cutting thorats quietly if he has to, rather than about flashy one on one mortal combats. Uhm, sorry about the rant. I am sort of attached to Valygar and all things valygarish.
  18. Yep, it's a collection of equally valid opinions
  19. I thought it crashed the game when you added NPCs in with IWG or some other big troubles connected with joinables due to inherent hard-coded IWDII limitation... or something of the kind that rendered IWG unplayable for a casual user. Yes, I loved IWDII system too and would have wanted to see it implemented in BG2, but I thought it was a no go.
  20. I do not know, I thought IWG proved to be Weimer's first and complete fiasco.
  21. I agree with that... What I would actually *loved* to see on Nalia is the ability to determine which class is her first and which is her second, ie to be able to grow her as a thief if she loses her Castle and grow her as a mage if she keeps it.
  22. Valygar's kit is *very* appropriate for his conflicting character and for Corthala's curse - wether he wants it or not, magic does course through his veins casueing him all sorts of dilemmas and traumas. Stalker also corresponds well with the part of his backstory that describes him as a scout in the army. I'd not be tweaking anything on Valygar - he is a balanced and well-implemented character.
  23. Version 9 is out It has fixes for some annoying bugs. Thank you again to all who worked on the mod and to G3 for continous support!
  24. A Great Worry-ier that I am .... Keeping my fingers crossed that your back ups are current and no data loss had resulted!
